England ....Who is to blame?

I blame the Germans for all of this...If they had any conscience they should have, for previous WW1/2 based atrocities, stood back and allowed most of our players to stroll past and put the ball away...Its the least they could have done after bombing my grandads chip shop...Then the Argentines could have followed suit for daring to steal back the Malvinas...It wouldn't have been till the semi's that we would have had to start trying and by that time Rooney et al might have remembered what they get paid to do...The wankers

When I saw them on the TV I thought...costume off ebay...but who wears a costume with a stable belt?! :PDT_Xtremez_42:

That's what I though, then i saw the stable belt and ribbons, but if they were off e bay, wouldn't hey have gone for pilot type ones?

Just a thought. These guys will have probably earned more in wages in the fortnight they were out in South Africa than you will in the 4 year period between the end of this world cup and the start of the next.

I see the team skulked back into the country this morning, via the royal lounge at Heathrow no less!
Fcuk me, they should have had this as the England World Cup song playing on big screens...

Capello to stay?

Capello to stay?

Looks like Capello will stay with the players shouldering the blame for the WC fiasco.
I think also given his performance in SA he can consider himself very lucky.
My question is, can he change and adapt to this situation ? He is often depicted as a stubborn totalitarian or is that just "press speak".

Sid, you got any more posters like that? There were a whole load in the papers yesterday - cant find them online....

It's hard to critisize the manager. Your line manager could be useless and totally incompetent, but does that mean you drop your standards to such a level the operation falls apart ?

Tired, missing wifes, bored. Same old excuses then have the cheek to start pointing the finger at the fans for not supporting them ? In each and every game the fans crowded in after forking out thousands to watch their 'heroes' and sung their hearts out. One particular rendition of the national anthem made the hair on my neck stand up.

The likes of Stuart Pearce, Butcher and even Alan Shearer belting out the naytional anthem and sweating blood for the team seem a distant memory.

I even struggle to call them 'England' as I don't recognise the lack of commitment as the 3 lions.

Beckham was the only man to leave with any credit, and he didn't even play. He felt every minute and kick from the touchline and 'allegedly' had to be peacekeeper more thqan once. There was more hurt on his face than any of those playing after the Germany game.

The FA needs rebuilding from top to bottom. If an incompetent oaf like David Platt can get a job after what he did to Forest it just proves it's purely a lads club.

Regardless of how good anyone is at their own job, if your boss gets you to work with people who are not specialists in their field then the team is going to struggle isn't it? If he picks a taxi driver to be your accountant and a chef to be your crane operator you are in trouble. If he hires 15 truck drivers but only one digger driver you are going to have difficulty shifting what needs to be shifted.
The manager of a football team picks the side and decides how its going to play and he selects the personel he wants to fulfil each role. If he gets it wrong, inappropriate formation or players not in positions they excel at, then its turns into a car crash unless the opposition is considerably weaker all round and the shortcomings of your managers choices are outweighed by the skill of the players.

What went right?

What went right?

So we have a team with a lot of experience who should have turned in far better performances than they did and a manager who was generally very highly regarded albeit at club level.
Players said fitness wasn't an issue but the manager said after the tournament that they were ALL tired.
The manager was unable to turn it around and admitted to being baffled by the performance of his team.
I'm at a loss to say what went according to plan......if anything
No doubt someone who was there will soon be writing an exclusive to spill the beans and earn a nice tidy sum.
