Any official type website or is it just on FB?
Any more details of planned events or do I have to fill up with petrol to drive up to the M54? :PDT_Xtremez_35:

Appreciatte the Irony of filling up to partake in the go slow but the alternative is you* fill up anyway and do nothing but complain about the price of fuel.

That was obviously the Royal you and not You personally, You understand, dont you?

I'll be taking part me thinks

Website for the Wolverhampton Protest is here and will be updated shortly. From the FB site there are planned protests all over the country but I only know about the M54 one.

Inconveniencing the drivers of Wolverhampton isn't going to get the politicos or oil companies attention. Most only leave the comfort of inside the M25 under duress. If you want attention you have to have an impact on London.

Still the only credible form of protest is to boycott ONE fuel company. All this go-slowing is a) easy to police, and b) actually giving more money to the people you`re protesting about.

What i mean by easy to police is with regard to the new laws brought in to prevent fuel blockades. Obviously it doesn`t matter to the powers that be if half the Black Country is in grid lock, but any form of blockade can be easily quashed by arresting the ring-leaders. Boycotting ONE fuel company is perfectly legitimate, after all, nobody can force you to buy a particular brand.

With the situation in the States, i`d suggest BP would be the ideal target. They appear to be in a similar situation to Kuwait in `91 and might just drop their price to ensure their survival.

I still think a great idea would be for all the long haul drivers of lorries, artics etc basically go on strike and refuse to move freight around the country by road. Oh, and the haulage firms should back them up by refusing to insure anyone else to drive their vehicles.

I think they'd get a great deal of public support for this activity..and it would be a novel way of getting the point across.

It'd probably never work...

I'm very against the motorway blockades. The last time I got stuck in one it took me 7 hours to get from a Unit in Oxfordshire to my home in South Wales. Least fun journey ever!
I like the idea of boycotting BP. Let's all go to Tesco in the mean time, and at least get some points out of it!

Why is profit such a dirty word around here?

At £1.20 per Litre only about £0.40 actually goes to the Supplier / Retailer.

That 40 pence has to cover the cost of

1. getting the crude out of the ground.
2. Transporting the crude to the refinery.
3. Refining.
4. Delivery to the retailer.
5. Upkeep & wages at the retailer.
6. Profit for the shareholders along the line.

Remind me how much a bottle of 'fancy water' costs and how many miles to the gallon your car will go on it.

Try as I might I have never been able to drink 50 litres of water a day, nor even a single litre of petrol....
