Just seen on Sky News that Welsh manager and former Leeds, Everton and Newcastle player Gary Speed has died. Unfortunately not got a link as yet.

RIP

sad indeed but WTF is all the breast beating and wailing about whether today's games at Swansea and Liverpool should go ahead? Sorry but WTF has his death got to do with it? Plenty of other football icons die every season without all this false show of who can be most devasted!

If I was Welsh manager I'd probably commit suicide too:PDT_Xtremez_42:

Great player, his total of top flight games is some achievement, and one quarter of a great Leeds midfield. Quality to watch.

Who cares???

Who cares???

This country has some sick and twisted morals when a old footballer hangs himself for some reason and in other news on the same day a 4 year old girl is tragically killed in a road traffic accident on the M6 and is only given a small footnote on the news websites and no doubt the TV and nexts days papers.

He was a c list celebrity, so what! He had a reasonably long life and obviously had issues which I'm sure will come to light and a little 4 year old girl barely started on her journey before it was ended abruptly through no fault of her own.

You should all get your priorities straight. Shame on you all.

If you feel it necessary, start a thread of your own regards the tragic crash on the M6 today - by all means direct some anger in "Vent your spleen" but DO NOT tarnish a thread started for, and with the intention of, giving people on this forum a chance to discuss or pay their respects to an admired and well respected member of the footballing community who has contributed to some notable worthy causes and leaves behind a young family.

No-one knows the reasons behind his death and until such time as we do - you should do as the rest of the country has done and show some respect. This is not the time or the place for your ill-placed and unwelcome comments.

Who are you to dictate what priorities people have in their lives? Yes, the death of a child is tragic in any circumstances but totally unrelated to this story. This story is about Gary Speed whose listing on the celebrity ladder is debatable but irrelevant. His death is lamentable but in the bigger picture not extremely important. Your comment 'shame on you all' is not only patronising but an indicator of your persona, who the feck do think you are?:PDT_Xtremez_25:

Why exactly?

I am a member of the 'people' and have a right to express my opinions when and where ever I like about anything I like. To be honest, I have no idea who gary speed is nor do I care, I was expressing my disgust at the fact that this person's death seems to deserve headline banners across the news simply because hes a footballer and yet the death of a little girl on the same day in a tragic accident deserves nothing more than a footnote. I stand by my comment and my post has direct relevance to the subject and therfore deserves as much right to be here as your comments on condolences do.

I do have a patronising persona, I have keep it in check daily. Who do I think I am? I'm someone with whom you probably wouldn't get along with very well.
