Gary Speed Dies

  • Following weeks of work, the E-GOAT team are delighted to present to you a new look to the forums with plenty of new features. Take a look around and see what you think!
The act of clapping was spontaneous and in recognition of the man he was, a celebration of his life and achievements.
Even the shouts of 'There's Only One Gary Speed' were a sign of respect. They were right in the context of football and the man himself.

Yes, and to be fair as the two names were read out in tribute at the start of the silence at Anfield, each was roundly applauded by the whole crowd before the ref blew his whistle to start the silence.
It doesn't matter how the tribute was paid as far as I'm concerned, it was paid and thats all that matters. Football lost a decent man yesterday and you didn't need to be Welsh or a fan of Leeds or Bolton or Newcastle or Everton to appreciate his contributions to the sport.

Gem, if you feel that strongly about it, write to Alex McLeish. He was applauding as hard as anybody in the stadium.

I've said my piece. Interesting picture in the paper though. Showed the 2 teams at Anfield were the silence was impeccable, applauding, and the 2 teams at Swansea where the silence was totally ignored by all and sundry apart from the players who were standing in silence with bowed heads.
