Just seen the letter confirming the news of the impending Higher Pay Band for Cpl - WO.

Therefore, all shineys should check the size of their wallets and ask santa for a bigger one if required....

I am sure ALL the RAF will be happy about this.:PDT_Xtremez_30:

It's is gradually filtering it's way onto the streets. Not sure whether this is officially or not.

Edit: Until we here an official announcement I'll temp close this thread. I'll re-open it when we get told of any decision from Air Cmd.

It appears that the letter is widely available on the streets so thread opened.

Yahoo!!!!!!!!

Told you so!!

By the way I opened a new thread that seems to have now been removed. So when I attempted to reply to a post I could not do so.

Anyway, I was gonna say that there are already many people bumping their gums about this and they can be put into 2 distinct categories:

1. Personnal (Support) as we are to be known - all extremely happy.

2. All other members of RAF - not so happy!!

Oh well, off to buy a techie wallet..rgds to all other shineys and to those in category 2 above: stfu

Lucky Shinies.

Yes, I'm a techie and I'm Bumping my gums. What possible justification could you have for being paid the same as techies.

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.

Who cares? Just show me the money.

Not only are they giving us a pay rise they are thinking of giving us tea breaks too. :PDT_Xtremez_28:

T-BREAK !!!!!!!!

Mabye you should have a work break from all your other diversions and do some work.

the importance pyramid in the air force goes like this

Aircraft

Pilots Techies

Who cares?????

For those of us who've just come off a large floating airstrip and have no intention of going near an intranet terminal or work for almost 2 weeks, when does it come into effect and what will a level 7 Sgt be getting.

Cheers.

Looks like it is time to remuster from TG1 to any other trade. Then i too can have plenty of time for gym, expeds, day release for college and any other reason. :PDT_Xtremez_34:

In the words of the prophet. Loadsa money!! Also just to add to the pot, our green brethern (not the techies that are getting upset, but the AGC) are not only getting airborne, they are going inter-continental! I'm not laughing, honest....*snigger*

Not only are they giving us a pay rise they are thinking of giving us tea breaks too. :PDT_Xtremez_28:

Now, I don't think even JSJET would let us even consider Techie T-break. Imagine, logging off for a whole 30 mins every morning and afternoon. That would never happen. Oh, hold on, that's what time we are using to carry out gym, expeds (only been on 3 in 17 yrs), day release (once asked for that and the WO couldn't stop laughing) and other stuff that we allegedly do that no other trade does. Like work at our desks while everyone else has a NAAFI break or work extra hours so that guys are not discriminated against when a promotion board sits. Or get GBH of the earhole from snotties (take your pick as to who I mean) and still do as professional a job for them as we do for our mates.

While I may agree with the facts that TG1 & 2 are a heck of a lot more technically trained than we are, the occasions when they are asked to have the ability to switch from one task to another is a lot less than it is for us. I know that I wouldn't even think of gobbing off at a Heavy during an engine change as it requires immense amounts of concentration, but said Heavy would usually not think twice of gobbing off at a clerk despite the fact that the clerk is trying to deal with a 1* on the phone. (Not a swipe at Heavies, but just wanted to use an example that would resonate with all of us.)

TG17 has put forward their case and it has been accepted by JSJET that we are deserving of being upgraded to Higher Pay Band. This is kudos to A1 Spec Spt, not an insult to all techies, whatever trade they may be. JSJET are a team that have set standards to adhere to and if they have managed to put a case through for TG17 to be upgraded (In the last 3 reviews over 15 years, we were about 2 to 3 points off of being worthy of getting the higher pay band. We didn't get it, so we got on with the job), then it is not a swipe at any TG's or our brethern in any Service, it shows that we work damned hard to look after our guys and we have been able to translate it into an upgrade to our Pay Banding.

Now if anyone wants to turn around and say that we (as in TG17) don't work hard for them, I will personally be very disgruntedly with their clerk in the first place as they may be letting the trade down. But if the clerk can show me what they have done for their guys (and it's up to spec) and the guy is still bumping his gums, then I invite said gum-bumper to discuss it with me, KG, TBJ and Shiny Arse (before the little fecker leaves!) at a hangar of our choosing. However, if the said clerk is not up to spec, then we will have a 'chat' with the Clk.

ive had enough..... PVR on monday, i didnt go through nearly two years of training, shift work which has completely ****ed me for the last ten years, working up to armpits in fuel oil / other peoples **** and ****, to feel this de-valued. Plus the fact my work has a DIRECT consequence to whether people live or die..... :PDT_Xtremez_14:

its not the shineys i begrudge getting paid a bit more its the system.

Link to pay scales here, but the answer you are looking for is £35219 at today's rates, effective 1 Apr 09. Add on the annual pay increase (whatever that's going to be) and you're looking at £36K+.

In case anyone's not sure, this is what next April's pay packet will look like:

Apparently it's looking good for a 3% pay rise so yeah around £36k for a level 7 sgt.

To be honest, I like many Personnel (Support) am actually flabbergasted we have made it to the HPB but never look a gift horse in the gob.....well done to those involved in the evaluation I say!!!

Perhaps a higher higher pay band will be the next thing....

It's not TG17 fault as you say, the system is to 'blame' if anything. In the meantime - recession??? what recession??? he he
