I have to admit that annoying that it is to see the benefits of going through all the technical training(over 2 years in total), the diverse range of jobs that my trade can be tasked with (1st line/forward 2nd line/depth, industry placements, IPTs, AEDITs, software teams and god knows what else i will not winge. The reason for this is that it is not worth the effort and it devalues the excellent job that your trade sponsors have done as appossed to the cake and asre party that ours have thrown.

Can Clerks not be assigned to the frontline on both fg sqns and raf regt sqns, work second line in SHQ's and Eng Records, have industry placements and IPT's as well as other exciting opportunities such as the JPAC, RTS Instructors and the Colchester Glass House?

looking for a fight aren't you!

And Techies can also do RTS + the glass house, Phase 2 + 3 training. My point is that training in technical trades IS longer and often requires a hell of a lot more courses etc on top of Trade training to carry on with the additional crap that we do on top of fixing equipment/aircraft.

My post wasn't aimed at starting a slanging match but merely highlight the excellent job your trade sponsors have done and the sh1te job ours have done.

so please stfu

Yes I feel sorry for your ovestretched trade........NOT....you've still got more manpower % than our fading 80% and we have no replacements until mid 2009 due to an 18month training course, aaahh the joys of overstretch. Then there's only 15 of the fekkers to share round. How long is Admin training?

Plus checking out the ACOS Manning bulletin you don't even go away as often.

All sour grapes aside good on ya we're all just a bit green with envy our sponsor ain't doing the same.

To be fair to the TG1 trade sponsor, when you are at the top of the pay structure you have nowhere else to go. We all know the pay structure is flawed and that work is underway to correct its anomalies; it's just going to take a little while longer.

I'm not going to try to justify why TG17 should be up-banded - the JSJET have done that for me. If we didn't deserve higher band pay, we wouldn't have it. Anyone who feels de-valued as a result of TG17's good news is just shallow, in my opinion.

Oh, and before someone else kicks off about 'consequence of error', let me tell you about a Royal Artillery friend of mine. In a previous tour he was a LBdr in a MLRS battery. His job (in simple terms) was to press the button which fired the rockets. He was on the higher pay band. His Sgt, whose job it was to give the order to press the button, was on the lower pay band. If a techie screws up one or more people may die. If that RA Sgt did his job right several people would die. Think about that.

The difference being that that is his job to kill the enemy

Although in your opinion the shallow amoung us should stop whining you all would if you were in the same position. Your point about not having anywhere to go on the payband front is valid.

Tommo, or other passing MOD. I am bored with this now. It would appear no matter how much we attempt to rationalise the subject some bitter, twisted smallie with an over inflated opinion of themself and their trade keep having a pop. Whilst I appreciate the contirbution we all make, sooner or later I will get Honesty Tourettes and that would be rude. Can we close this?

Well we've just about covered the subject from the genuine, considered posts to the other end of the spectrum.
