Is Ukraine about to get messy?

Amid concerns that Russian troops are positioned along the border of Ukraine, is it about to get messy?

Which country bordering Ukraine could be next on Putin's hit list? Moldova a relativeley tiny place and would anyone notice. Hungary the Russians have previous for invading there and establishing thier version of order. Dare he even go to Poland and take that back under Soviet control?

Sorry the maps a bit small but, as most know, I'm a proper IT Biff

NATO will be holding a 30 country summit tomorrow.

From the Times...

"Nato said that it had put more than a hundred of its warplanes on high alert. The alliance’s 30 nations are due to hold an emergency summit tomorrow. Jens Stoltenberg, the Nato secretary-general, said that new measures were being considered, including deploying the Nato Response Force to eastern European countries, including Slovakia."

Thanks for the link - E3's, A6's, GAF A400s, C130J and DC-10's
I just saw four Ukraine Emergency Service Antonov 24/26's heading North West - presumably not for Germany...

I’m surprised nobody is mentioning sanctions for Belarus, as I’m guessing that the troops who got to Kyiv so quickly could have only come from there.

Time now to get an extra 1% of GDP invested in Armed Forces and NEW bases built in Poland and Romania a la BAOR West Germany. Alternatively we invest that extra 1% GDP into Navy primarily and RAF allowing the Western Nations on the ground to provide the bulk of the ground forces but we still need proper NATO bases further East with close proximity Strike Airfields for Air superiority, interdiction and ground attack. We, Brits can watch the northern approaches up to Norway especially since our Ground Forces are minimal and we are an island.

TG17 and Civvy Serpents justifying their continual existence of course!!!
Dont forget the TG1 who avoided aircraft to specialise in advising on QA, Lean and CI.

Im wondering whilst NATO wont put boots on the ground, will they assist with conducting a no-fly zone over Ukraine? I suspect it then becomes more of an even fight if its down to the armies. It also allows the politicians to stick to the line that no NATO forces will be on the ground.

It's weird to me when aircraft box changers target shinies as a problem having no jobs. In my experience, it is TG1 that play badminton a lot better than TG17.

NATO aircraft v Russian aircraft in the skies above the territory of a non NATO nation would perhaps only escalate the situation. Yes it would be nice to give Mad Vlad a firm kick in the Baltics. Not sure NATO has the appetite or desire for a no fly zone over Ukraine.

The Jags, F3s and Harriers all took part in the Former Yugoslavia No-fly zone, which wasnt a NATO country, yet we all got a NATO FY Medal.

Zelensky has appealed for Europeans to join the fight if you fancy another medal...no hotel accom this time though.

For anyone that’s confused about what’s happening in Russia and Ukraine, here it is in layman’s terms:

-Ukraine used to be in an abusive relationship with Russia, feeding him, letting him use her car, paying for the coffee etc and giving him whatever he asked for until she built up the confidence to call it quits back in 1991.

-Since then, Ukraine has been working on herself, becoming a strong independent woman with help from friends like France, America, Poland, and others. They give her support, loan her money, and are helping her find her way.

-Ukraine has been enjoying being single for 30 years and looking forward to continuing to grow and create new friendships.
-Now Russia, being the toxic ex that he is, wants her back, and doesn’t want her meeting new people or creating any new relationships as this impacts the level of power and control he can exert over her.

-A couple of weeks ago Russia started sitting out the front of Ukraine’s house & when her friends ask him what was he doing there, he said “Oh nothing, just getting a little bit of exercise in, that’s all.”

-After her friends told her that Russia was potentially getting ready to do something bad to her, he said “They’re lying, they just want you to be scared of me and that’s not what it is.”

-Yesterday Russia broke into Ukraine’s house, beat her up & “took advantage” of her while live-streaming and dared any of her friends to do something about it.

She’s still waiting for help.
Can't take credit for this, but thought it was a great analogy.

I think we’re getting some good feed back on the anti tank systems we gave them.

Everyone from Ukraine, it running into EU Countries, a,l which are part of NATO.

Its very likely that when the War Ends, Ukraine will join NATO as that is what everyone wants. Protection from the "mad east". I think he could have did himself wrong here, he has pushed the country into being what he didnt.

I suspect "public support" for him will be gone, and the "mad west" loses its bite as it aligns more to a Western lifestyle. Id say by 2030, perhaps we all could be part of some form of NATO once the "mad man" has been replaced.

I know theres talk about visas for Ukraine nationals coming to UK, but the current refugee process would probably be better for them whilst we know whats going to happen in the long term.

For me we need to start getting supplies into those trapped in the country and support Poland look after the people who have arrived there in the past few days.

Quite surprised the Russians dont have air superiority yet, did we donate some SAMs as well?

Expect its a busy time for our super secret North Yorkshire radar base just now.
