Remember Liverpool have played in the second tier beforehand (mid 60s), like Manchester in the early seventies. Yes they will survive in the top lot, butdon't expect loads of money from the new lot..

There's a massive Liverpool following in my work, one of the biggest worries we have (and it sounds stupid) is that the new buyer is only worth £550M. Man City recently blew £150M due to stupidity and wrote it off to experience! We've still not got the buying power to get us back up there the Man City/Chelsea way (buy it).

I think the 'Red Socks' man has more to offer the club than money.....a team spirit, a sense of belonging and a future! If we don't improve year on year then he is a failure and he certainly isn't that!!

Good times ahead.

Hmmm, thats not a concern you'll hear expressed too often in the pubs around Anfield at this particualr moment in time mate. Shiekh Mansours and Roman Abramovichs, giga rich individuals who are prepared to bankroll a football club as a plaything or hobby, are not all that common. All that matters at the moment is to relieve the burden of the debt that Gillett and Hicks placed on the club; its costing us the wages of half a dozen top quality players each week to service.
There is a real concern that Hicks' attempts to derail the sale of the club are based, not a realistic chance of winning the case in court, but simply to push the affair beyond the point at which RBS call in the loan in which case he and Gillett become liable for 30m less that they would if the debt was repaid by a buyer. I wouldn't put it past Hicks to want to see the club incur the 9 point hit out of pure spite either.

Its certainly looking better anyway. Hicks is probably the most reviled owner in sport; under his ownership the Brazilian team Corinthians was relegated, weighed down by the burden of debt placed on the club by the Texan. The Texas Rangers became the first US baseball teram to file for bankrupcy, again under the debts piled on the club by Hicks levergaed purchase.
John Henry looks to be a far more sensible and less avaricious individual, lets hope so!

Yet despite that history I assume he still passed the fit and proper person "checks" carried out so diligently by the premier league. Go figure

Liverpool and United have have so much in common. Our debt has been better serviced, but we are still in debt, the Glaziers are bleeding us dry. We look at Liverpool and think that we could/will end up like you. It is only City and Chelsea who are safe, the rest of us are well in the s##t.

Are they? If Abramovich and Mansour decide they've had enough of their expensive toys, the wage bills at City and Chelsea will cripple them. The new UEFA financial rules due to come into force into a couple of years might see a return to a bit of common sense and level headedness.

Since the takeover they're rumoured to be becoming more Americanised which will result in them changing their name. They'll be now known as the Hubcap Steelers.

At Liverpool Airport the statue of John Lennon reads "ABOVE US ONLY SKY". Someone has written next to it "BELOW US ONLY WOLVES AND WEST HAM"

But will that happen? Doubtful when Sheikh Mansour earns over 200 million a DAY from the profits on oil etc....so why would he have enough and walk?

Trouble with LFC plus others is the green eyed monster!

Financial restrictions will provide a bit of a problem but hey just rent a few boxes to some 'other' Sheiks for a few million each every year and we will be ok!

People just don't like it that there are others on the up while they are on the way down.....

Its not impossible though is it? Clearly he'll want to win something first granted.

Explain please. Who are ''people'. ????

Personally I don't have a problem with Sheikh Mansour at City, good luck to him and all the fans of the club - god knows they've waited long enough and always been well supported. But, and yes its a big but, if he leaves and takes his cash with him they are left with one massive wage bill and not enough income.

It's not about the funding of Manchesters buying club or even Chelski the respective owners of each are not going to run out of money. But if they get bored with their toys and decide to play with something else then the clubs are in the dwang big time. But the sooner Man Ure are in the conference the better. Liverpool will come back and to risk angering the football gods they ARE to good to go down. Big question is though can the mighty Accy Stanley get promoted this time?

No we aren't. We are utter garbage at the moment, no soul, no leadership, no idea. My first trip to the home of our friends across the park for many a long year today and watched us get played completely off the park, well until it was too late and even then we never troubled their goal.
Nobody can see how and where its going to turn around either. I think NESV may soon be asking for their money back :PDT_Xtremez_42:

Not 'impossible' of course! Anything is possible, even LFC going down! Although I hope not as I used to watch them a lot in late 80's and have a soft spot for them.

There is a massive project at City both on and off the pitch and the rewards should be good for the fans and the local area but it is still all in its infancy and will take some time - the team will get better - only just beat Blackpool and that was with a lot of luck!

The 'people' being the usual pundits, and also the ones looking over their shoulders but who somehow forget how they spent a lot over the years - Fergie for one. But now City have some dosh its a bad thing.

Looks like they have a new song:

"For you'll never score any goals.
You'll never score any goals!!"

Could catch on as the season progresses.

Still they can always follow Newcastle's example and compete for the Coca-Cola Championship silverware.

Teams eventually find their level...................:PDT_Xtremez_30:

To quote Robbie Fowler, after the defeat to Everton, "Leeds Utd were relegated with a lot better team than Liverpool". Hopefully LFC swap places with the Mighty Bluebirds. :PDT_Xtremez_30:

I would probably kill myself if this happened, solely because I could never be as happy again in my life, and therefore life wouldnt be worth living.

Cant believe this team will go down, not with players like Reina, Gerrard,Kuyt, Torres. Still think there are far too many average players in the current team\squad and Hodgson cant really be blamed for that.
