Wasn't really a problem for us techs.
The requirement for a DE was Maths, Physics and 2 other O levels, Eng Lang was considered an advantage, not a necessity.
As long as you could get the basics across on a 720C a pedantic approach to the spelling was largely irrelevant, but then again.... we weren't expected to perf up the COs golfing appointment with his mate at Cottesmore at Friday lunch........ woe betide any TPO that got his apostrophe wrong on that one.

Love it what an answer!!!!

EX Wing By anychance?

Really!

Really!

If it's giving you that much of a hard on, start a thread with a poll & see if anyone bothers answering.

Collie,

You should know by now that when you get to my age, hard-ons are only allowed on a Saturday evening and only then if Mrs Dilbert has had her quota of Pinot Grigio.

It was purely a point of conversation whilst I pondered my navel...

Are you ex-TG 11 by any chance? :PDT_Xtremez_19:

Also, to take your point, nobody would give a sh1t and nobody would bother answering. Typical techies. Brilliant aren't we... :PDT_Xtremez_30:

Does it really feckin matter??

But for the majority of the ex 11, you will find that like the rest of the RAF we earned that higher pay band, on the basis of doing 3 or more full time jobs.

Enjoyed reading the 'eb and flow' of this thread, but just have to know what these 3 jobs are????

Go on! Secondary duties not allowed!

You only perf what you saw and there was no punctuation in signals, other than PD.

Ex TG3, Ex TG11, you all wish you were Ex TG5....
It's better to have rigged and lost, than never to have rigged at all.
Still the b'stard offspring of Tg4 and lovin'it.

To be fair anyone with Maths GCSE at grade E can work out that 11 and 5 have both been raised to 4 whereas 3 has been lowered.

I'll have to agree with you on the rigging issues though, in olden days TCW had 2 riggers, both NCOs and both effectively AE Stackers in the hanger, all the sharp end rigging was done by TG3s with 11 assistance, although the LR80 was about as sharp as we got.
To your credit the guys at Salt Lake had the best sun tans in Cyprus.

Maybe you could go to Cosford, do an intensive assimiliation course and return as a fully fledged member of the TG4 Family. Then you could take over down in the Falklands and give some of the Lads a break.

Maybe I could learn to put a harness on and do your Job?

I see that some of your own medicine does not go down so well. I wont continue feeding you beyond saying this;

You have joined this forum and consistantly attempted to goad people into arguing with you. I shall not be one of them.

I wish you well with your fishing trip,

toodles,

Priceless,!! Hey, do me favour, take these three wires and lick the brown one, its tastes of chocolate and you'll get an early finish! remember to hoover before you leave!

stfu

I had to laugh when this post piqued my interest.
TG3 vs TG11 vs TG5 riggers why the RAF in its infinite wisdom decided to amalgamate 3 totally incompatible trades escapes me.
TG3 will always have RADAR and COMMS to fix which means they will always fill legacy posts TG11's and TG4's can never do.
Riggers could have been called in to fit cat 5 and fibre without ever having to have change trades as they always did.
IT geeks could have just been formed as a new trade.
FFS it's an easy job as a downgraded TG5 heavy seconded to an IT section I was on the way to my Microsoft MCSE with full administration rights to the station system before i was upgraded and returned to trade. Thank you God.

Assimilation of trades is a cost cutting shortcut which ultimately costs more.
Canada and Austrailia are already trying to split their amalgamated ground trades back to single stream as they haven't the skill sets available to run safely and efficiently.

each assimilated trade is just the poor b@stard offspring of its parents

on a plus note contractor support to the RADAR is almost up so it will be TG5 back to the mountains

Shame there will be no real JAFAD's to bait anymore

I have read through this wondering if I had anything constructive to add...... I don't think I do, so I will just get my soap box out instead.

Firstly, just to clear up any confusion the 4000 course is the basic TG4 course that lasts 52(ish) weeks, where as the 4001 course is (as I understand it) more on airfield aids for ground radio types. So you will only go on the 4001 if it is required.

As for are the TG4 new people as good as the old TG3? No of course not, are we as good as TG11? No of course not. Are we as good as TG4? Yes of course thats our trade. A lot of you joined as TG3 or TG11 (and TG5?) I however joined as TG4. In my mind it's not an unwanted child of a loveless marriage, it's a diverse trade requiring the person to be able to adapt to any job.

I am doing an ex TG11 job (I spent 5 years in civvy street managing servers and networks.... yes I know I left a good job, but there was a recession on!! For some reason I beleived the AFCO when they said it was an IT trade.) I work with an ex TG11 SAC & CPL and ex TG3 Sgt. We all get on fine, we all do the same jobs.

We all look at the past with Rose tinted glasses, I know I do or I would never have re-joined the RAF. Ask yourself honestly if your outlook on TG4 is fair or based on opinion/individuals, I could say I hate the Army because I knew this siggy who was a tw@, but that wouldn't be a fair assesment (....well.....).

Anyway rant over, I wont say shut up and get on with it, just try find something that makes you happy and do that :)

Same old, same old.

Time to close it down.

If all the threads continue this way I'll close them from the off - it's fecking boring.

If it's constructive and trade related, post it in the forum, if it's a TG 3/11/5 bitch fest - post it here.
