I couldn’t endorse the last two posts more. (the future is bright

Firstly use your 22 to educate your self, using either your ELC or SLA to financially assist - ok the rules are tight and say that unless you are in your last 2 years then you have to use it to educate your self in line with your current job. However, you have to be clever here e.g. as a mechanical Techie' use the broad spectrum banner of "
Engineering" to allow you scope to do something such as electronics or computing, just as some one who is admin ' could look to business or legal studies - what I'm saying is do not under blinker your self or stick your head in the sand... (Good advice for all those in Iraq!!!)
Talking of which, if you find your self on det' with nothing to do for four months then get to the education facilities and learn an extra language, employers will look very favourably on that.
You have some skills that are very costly in civi street...e.g. your CCS - (the first aid and fire part that is). All civi companies have to have trained first aiders in the work place, if you could get on a course before you leave then a prospective employer will take note of this because, that so many hundreds of pounds they do not have to spend on training someone up!
If you opt for 22 in the following few years I think you will gain some remarkable skills just though the direction that the RAF and Armed forces as whole may be forced to take its personnel e.g. manpower reductions could open out opportunities that weren't previously available e.g. Look at the aircraft Tehcie's who are multi-trading or at the extreme there was a call to disband and merge the RAF in the Army and Navy. On the one hand, what extra hassle would a move like that generate but on the other what opportunities would it bring?
Use your 22 wisely it not often that you will find one employer willing to fund and train you to go and do another job!!! (End of broadcast)
