PVR Craze!!

  • Following weeks of work, the E-GOAT team are delighted to present to you a new look to the forums with plenty of new features. Take a look around and see what you think!
I know a few on the wing that have pvr'd but have rescinded when questioned why? What do you want? Believe it or not, some want to stay on tcw, the choice if posting or out. They take out, sort out Job on 90 and they want to stay in... 1 bloke got new management n took his out . He said the new folk seem to care n are looking after us!!
Not always BUT sometimes the (sac's mainly) would benifit from some help not **** jobs . Obv's wouldn't pull a lot of folk back, but LMs need to try....

Fair enough not to clear!!!! Doh.
The point of this was, Not all SAC's want to get out, they're are some who dont enjoy there present job, instead of talking to LM they opt to PVR. It is worth having a good talk to them if you are a LM to find out if their issue could be resolved.
Breakdowns in comms all over the place. And raises lots of questions about why TCW SAC's dont feel they can speak to their LM about their issues.

Because a lot of the LM have done nothing but TCW and if you say you want to leave they instantly shun you as weak. Plus it is very cliquey on TCW, it can be difficult to approach them.

A shame to hear seniors taking the easy road and allowing the weed of indifference and negativity creep in. But, unfortunately the issue stems from within junior ranks peer groups (having witnessed this first hand) where a few bad apples that have heavy influence/low interest spread bad moods/attitudes around and this is caught up by the easily influenced and naïve; perpetuating the "craze"...!

5% voluntary isn't that high a number, most private companies would love to have only a 5% churn rate.

Quite, all that reall matters is skill attrition, not numbers. Now if that's the case there really are going to be problems. Primaily because the smarter money goes first, and the mediocre tend to hang on.

Hurry up and PVR then ffs, the sooner more people bang out then the sooner the rest of us get offered an easy retention bonus of 10k ching ching, and then I woke up 😄

the problem is that its 5% give or take in every period in the report with no uplift in recruiting, therefore the pool of skilled experienced personnel is reducing month on month, as has been pointed out only the dregs will be left to train up the next generation.

in most companies alarm bells would be ringing as to why they can't hold onto their best people but the mod seems to be using it as a cost cutting plan.

10% is expected in any large organisation and the RAF is no different that way. Our issues are that we recruit only from the bottom, when that dries up we run into difficulty. Those difficulties are caused by OC Recruiting being given opposing priorities to his/her predecessor when they take the job. It's either spend like a singly on pay day to recruit as much as possible. Or save like a singly two days before cheque cashing day in the NAFFI and cut any and all useful marketing/posts etc. This creates enormous peaks and troughs in the training machine as well making it harder to keep good and current blue suit instructors. The civvies are always there which is useful but if you have an uplift you need blue suits to back them up. That's when you have newly promoted Cpls and Sgts given the choice, training camp or no promotion. We've all heard of the offer to Cpls, go as a Sgt or go as a Cpl, you're still going. That gets bums on seats, not good instructors. Crap instructors produce crap tradesmen, perhaps even encourage the few we do recruit the RAF isn't for them before they even leave training.

Thia is very true. I have wondered sometimes how i am uderneath such idiots but then i realise the smarter contingent of the RAF leave for a better life with prospects!

How about those who are just seeing out their pension rights who were savvy enough to stay on afps 75?

With AFPS 15 kicking in soon more and more will walk. The longer you have to do until your 22 the less the pension is worth to you. I already know 3 Cpls who've walked at their 9 or 12 point in the past year as the pension isn't worth staying in for.

They will have to stay till 22 the EVEN smarter ones were those who jumped to AFPS 05 who have been able to leave at age 40/18 yrs! And whose pensions are equivalent due to the best pay in last three years taking inflation into account!

I'll be 40 at my 22 year point...
