Questions for TG4 Trade Sponsor

  • Following weeks of work, the E-GOAT team are delighted to present to you a new look to the forums with plenty of new features. Take a look around and see what you think!
As an ex peanut (now and maintainer wanting to be a tech!) I'd like to point out the observation that the majority of TG11 who do the "I'm off to count my money" are the ones who can't keep up!

There are two peanuts in this section, and I cant speak for the other, but I was ****ting myself when I arrived here. So much equipment I'd never seen before, and so out of my depth. But rather than bitching about it, and letting them think I was thick. I asked to go on shift for OJT, I asked to lead faults, and I asked for courses. I studied at night when the lads were in the bar and worked my ass off. Now not one of them mentions my penaut past.

I'm now looking at A/cpl, being put forward before my TG3 counterparts.

Not all of us are thick, some of us were railroaded into a dying trade and have been bored ever since! I'd love the opportunity to do the 4001, but because I was a peanut I'm not allowed!

Purely out of interest, what type of section are you in?

(and well done for putting the effort in to get up to speed)

It's primarily telecoms with some IT support, alot of BID filling (funnily enough that bit came naturally!)

But it's not uncommon to be putting loops on, tracing cables and resetting router settings. Not sure how else I can explain it!

Sounds like a typical Commcen/ helpdesk job? Surely this would have been taught in training/ assimilation. Fair play if you had to put effort in to get up to speed but I would expect that. Sounds more likely that the ex TG3 have let themselves down.

Could not agree with you more, I find it very irritating that alot dont. And I'm not sure my vocabulary stretches far enough to find a word to explain just how p*ssed off I am to not be considered capable of doing the 4001. I understand that there maybe people that may find it difficult, but is there really anything wrong with looking at the people there are in the the trade and find out if they could!?
