The first thing that the Tory MP who announced the results did was point out she was a woman and a black one at that. Not a good start for someone who despises Identity politics to have one of her own highlighting two things that are a core part of identity politics.

You're right, it shouldn't matter in this day and age and it shouldn't be something that needs to be pointed out to satisfy a box ticking philosophy. As Badenoch rightly pointed out, (paraphrased) "I think that the best thing will be when we get to a point where the colour of your skin is no more remarkable than the colour of your eyes or the colour of your hair." Well said Kemi!

When it comes to identity politics, Rachel Reeves on the other hand has been broadcasting from the rooftops that she is a woman! Apart from this being entirely obvious to everyone who lives in the sane world, it must be causing chaos and confusion at labour HQ as so far, labour has consistently struggled to define what a woman is.

I wonder what people's opinions are on the absolutely disgraceful re-tweet made by Dawn Butler accusing Kemi Badenoch of representing 'white supremacy in blackface'?

Why hasn't Butler had the whip removed yet?

She hasnt voted against the Govt on a whipped vote - thus far.

Dawn Butler is one of the few remaining bad smells of the Corbyn era that dont represent Starmer's Labour. She was a shadow minister under Corbyn, but has been nowhere near the shadow front bench since he was replaced and now just rants from the back benches. She'll have the whip removed at some point - hopefully still removed by the time the next GE comes round.

She is the Queen of identity politics for black issues, just as Zahra Sultana is the Queen of identity politics for muslims. Butler is very quiet on black knife-carrying gangs marauding round our cities. Sultana says nothing on Iranian and Taliban oppression on women but is very vocal on Israel's war with the Iranian-backed terrorists.
