Just been to see our careers manager to see how this years promotions are getting on, i was told "they are not looking to promote past 40 now" how rubbish is that!

this is the message that i recieved from the desk in case you were wondering............

Sir’s, Ma’am, All,

After discussion with the Trade Sponsor it has been agreed that the TG18 Logs(Sup) at Cpl rank will be held at 95% (worst case scenario). With pending redundancies and absorbing the Cpl’s back in to RAF next year following the closure of Kinloss, Cottesmore and Lyneham it leaves the trade with a surplus of Cpl’s next year therefore SAC to Cpl promotion has been ruled out as an option for the foreseeable future.

Impact statements are to be submitted to the Trade Sponsor in the first instance.

Regards

It's not much of an incentive for SAC's. In fact it's sh*te. Basically don't bother as there is no chance.

Just going back to what it was like in the mid nineties where most of us were 11/12 year sac's before promotion.

thats rubbish for a lot of guys out there. Some really good SAC's who deserve promotion are going to be let go as natural wastage.

A bloody shame. Also if they are in that bracket of natural wastage, whats the point of them trying if you know you're out? Hopefully the more professional ones won't.

Sad times across all 3 services.

Isn't that a Pre-requisite for joining as a stacker. :PDT_Xtremez_30:

I know of plenty of Cpls that are sh*t they shouldnt have been promoted. alot of them cant pass their fitness test or have been down graded for ages. Whats the point with the RAF employing JNCO's that arnt "FIT FOR OPS" Save money and get rid of them.

The Same thing Applies to Sgts. Get rid of the war dodging snecks that have only been OOA once in there career, promote the decent Cpls and then the Decent hard working SACs might have a chance of gettin promoted!

Nicely vented. Now be a good boy and go to TDF and enrol on a GCSE English course. Thanks. :PDT_Xtremez_14:

Just found out that they are not stopping promotion, just slowing it down and they are stopping at 40 this year/last year and looking at promoting 20 this year, then less year after and so on.

Still grim times ahead though!!!:PDT_Xtremez_34:

Thats a bit harsh, theres various reasons for being downgraded and its not always the individuals fault. Who are you to say that these people are'nt doing a good job in the UK? I've not been away for 9 years, but I'm worth my weight in washers and blankets. OOA Ops is one bit of what the RAF does, there is plenty going on that does'nt involve this.

So you think you are bringing something to the party by stating "that you have not been away for 9 years". Have you asked your peers what they think? Bleeding shirker comes to mind!:PDT_Xtremez_32:******

It might well be that it's not the downgraded person's fault. However, the fact remains that it's their colleagues that are picking up the OOAs and in an ever shrinking force, the OOA dodgers are becoming more visible, rightly or wrongly.

I agree!!!!!!!!!!!!

Got to ask why nearly 50% of stacker Cpl's are unavailable for OOA's, i better not be pinged in my last year because of some sicky!

TE&S...I practically had to bite my fingers off to stop 'em attacking the keyboard the other night when I read that statement. Deep down I thought he had to be on a bit of a fishing trip/wind up......

If however he wasn't, then thanks you tw@t for being one of the reasons I did 5 OOA's in my last 7 years of service. 3 years of which I was downgraded but able to deploy.

There's obviously 2 RAF's because I didn't serve in that tossers one!

He isn't on a fishing trip. Read his previous posts they all say the same. And he's not the only one I know of that have done so long dwg. He may well be brilliant at his job but his post could easily be filled by someone else who is brilliant at their job and who can tick all the boxes. 9 years is a bloody long time to take the pay and not do an OOA. Hasn't the TS just come back from a little visit to MPA? Hopefully some of the criteria will have changed and they will start filling more of the slots with downgraded personnel.

As for them not promoting anymore I heard yesterday that they have now actually released another to the PSL. Also not long before they released numbers 30-40 a friend of mine was on her JMLC or TMT can't rememeber and they were briefed that they werent going to go any higher than 30. These things change weekly so I'd take it with a pinch of salt.

Unfortunately my knee will never make it to MPA. As I said there is still plenty of important work being done in this country which for various reasons cant be contractorised, not everyone is employed at the main bases.
