Speaking recently to Stacker lordships, I asked, after their conference (another one coming soon) what they thought of the future of the trade. Solid, they said. Remember our lordships are not Stakers but Movers also! When questioned about current numbers and posts the subject was changed.

Now I'm not trolling but asking what people have heard? I have always heard that at the very least we need Stackers to control fuels. When I was in Iraq they contracturalised the POL and refueling. It seems the Senior Officers (who have little business knowledge) are making a lot of decisions behind our backs about drawing down our trade. Army Pet Opts (West Moors) have been after our fuels forever. Army Kineton has been after our X forever.

The reason I started this thread is not just to question the loss of our assets, but to ask everyone to try and come up with reasons why we are needed now and the future!!! We are being undermined from above by people with no knowledge. We have to defend. If WE at ground level don't try and fight our corner then by the time you are asked to justify your post it will be too late.

Please support by putting posts on here as to why we are needed! Any Techies that can support why a Stacker gives a better service than a civy option please join in. Thanx

They are going to be needed to teach the brown and dark blue brethren all about MJDI.

Don't forget the GAI requirements for the same trade are different across the three services.

Sounds to me like another Army attempt to take over completely a job the RAF does brilliantly and then...."F" it up.

Never really understood why they want to always take over our jobs. Let's be honest, the best people equipped to supply the RAF especially the Flying stations is RAF. Sure Supply (logistics for Jointeryism (ARMY))isn't the most glamorous of trades but along with many others it all forms into a massive working competent machine that knows what WE the RAF want.

PS..Got back from Cyprus this year and cleared from Aki SCAF where ther heirachy are all Army (pointless SSM included) with the token RAF Officer and majority of the workforce either RAF or civvie. They need us more than we need them as always.

PPS...I'm TG4. (Ex TG3).

I think all stackers who have the "X" would gladly hand it over!

I would only stop working in an ESA after I had been promoted. I have not met a Cpl that has worked in an ESA trhat has not been picked up - Its a mind **** job that gets under your skin and lets face it, anyone can drag their knuckles on the ground and talk the talk with Armourers!

The MJDI system is based on the Army SS3 computer and the finished product will rerquire alot of retraining for RAF Suppliers - It is not the same systema t all.

Resignation and suicide to follow!

It would appear that "You CAN fly without Supply!"

The way its going, everything on MOB's will be done by civiy's. and there will be a load of stackers sat somewhere in greens like stafford or wittering waiting to deploy. and when they do they will collect the pep's from marham for example then deploy with the tornado's or deploy whenever tactical re-fuel is required.

doesn't sound bad but i do hate civiys doing my job!:PDT_Xtremez_32:

My present unit is a complete civilian run Supply that closes at 1600 and even though they are in the building at 10 to 1600 they cant help because they are going through the complicated lock up checks, oh yeah, they keep the keys for F&L and PE Store in the guardroom, so you have to ring and book the keys if you need to collect PE's!!!!! and dont even start me off about clothing stores............I have never been asked for my old socks before..........

I'll tell you where the future is peeps, but you will not like it.

Watch this space for more and more cross pollinisation between supply and movements. The powers that control us aren't split into two seperate trades so watch out for the forthcoming amalgamation. and before you all howl in derision, TG1 peeps had it forced upon them.

Standby for a Multi skilling course duderinos.:0

Certainly were one trade. Q-EQ-AM was the trade annotation. Permitted us to load Argosies,Belfasts Brittanias and Comets, oops nearly forgot the Andover and Beverley.

Don't forget the Hastings, Hercules, Pembroke, Twin-Pin and Basset. Such a choice of postings as well - Lyneham, Colerne, Dishforth, Thorney, Fairford, Benson plus all the overseas posts. Trims done on the back of a fag packet (no computers then, you had to do 'maffs').

Ahhh memories.

I somehow don't feel the howls of derision from the stackers that will be the most vocal of the conjoined trades.......to some on the other side, this is akin to the seventh circle of hell.

Personally, it makes perfect sanse as long as the maffs and muscles are up to it.

Abingdon before I forget

How could I forget Abingdon? Done my mover training there on 40 JAMC - the course had the pleasure of flying to Wildenrath and back on the last scheduled Bev flight - took 'kin ages because of headwinds!!

Stevienics - For too long the movers took the view that Movements = VC10, Hercules & Tristar to the exclusion of everything else. Meanwhile the Army took over all the other aspects of movements , road, rail, sea moves. If TG18B personnel want to whinge at anyone for a possible re-merger of the trades, then they only have to look at themselves.

I done a surface movements tour long after the trades went their separate way because , as the C Mov O put it, it was a movements job that needed a Supplier to do because it couldn't be done by a mover!

I think you will find Clothing Stores are meant to be run on an exchange basis, they are are only doing their job and obeying the good book.

Agreed, but that doesn't stop them using their common sense.

oh sh*t I mentioned common sense in the military:PDT_Xtremez_42:stand by for incoming.

Not forgetting most clothing stores are run by civvies and they certainly dont possess common sense!!

A few years back I had the pleasure of working in a Clothing Store and we would never ask for socks in exchange because you never know what the individual classes as clean, we always refused minging shirts for exchange and would never take boots that people had taken off there and then as it was the early days of H&S and the Snec was keen as mustard on it.

I would go as far as to say that socks are not a 1 for 1 exchange item due to the nature of the item but not sure if I coupld provide AP (JSP) references...

As for civvies doing our jobs I have to agree with the majority on here but as the saying goes "you pay peanuts..."

and god forbid we ever get linked up with the Muppets again, mind you scribbling trim sheets on the back of a packet of fags is probably where it all started for TG18b and it's links with Lambert&Butler....
