The Problem with Bad News

The Problem with Bad News

I can assure you us at LCC have tried to put hard facts into writing, but time and time again it is ignored. They trialled the new MJDI FOC at St Mawgan and it fell on it's arse in 2 days. We knew it would but they wouldn't listen as usual. It's all down to politics and the unwillingness to take advice from blue suiters. As we are deemed not worthy to advise, but we do all the testing before a new upgrade is done so we must be good for something. What do we know most us have only used it for the last 20 years or so.

The problem with quote from UlsterExile is it does not tell the full story. MJDI FOC did not fall on it's arse in 2 days the feeds the system sends out to other systems were falling over. The other systems could not cope with changes and rollout had to pause for them to catch up. MJDI FOC is now rolled out sucessfully to quite a few more units. Change happens folks:p but as always it is the bad press that gets the attention.

AAC Apache refuel team at Bastion turning away USA Apaches I kid u not, as they were to busy going on a boot run.
Just another whirling Avtur burning bird for the TSW team. Bring it on!!!! Shame RLC seen as the future despite being hugely overmanned and stuck in the world of single Unit accounts

Wing before teatime I always say, but it just goes to show how little our higher ups know, refer to 1st post.

Big chief stacker at 40th bash Friday night hardly gave me any confidence about future of trade. Seems Tory business bosses are likely to have a big say in how things are shaping up. Pretty typical of the last 'Options for change' and no one is likely to full on sword over it.

Only going on information received from source in the office at the time and those words were pretty close to what was said.

Back on topic,

The future of the Supply Trade. We may very well see some more posts lost to civilian contractors but while we still have commitments overseas there are only so many posts that can be lost, due to keeping the current harmonisation rates.

If there is to be cross pollination of training with Trade group 18b then I say bring it on, I could with further opportunities for some overseas tours. We were one trade and may be so again in the future, as long as we see no loss of posts then I see no problems. This will probably only affect the junior ranks in both trades initially and will give them the opportunity to try something different, and may even help retain some that may have thought about leaving.

Having worked closely with the Army for some years :PDT_Xtremez_42:I can honestly say that they are completely incapable of doing what RAF/Navy suppliers currently do. Bear in mind that the RLC has roughly 28,000 in the corps, however they are made up of other trades than just supply and that many of the front line suppliers (equate to Sqn suppliers) are in fact other trades (signals, infantry) who are trained to do the supply role during their current tour.

Many in the Army are very good at what they do, however that does not translate that they are very good at knowing the needs of the RAF/Navy or even being able to deliver those requirements. I can see no future in a Joint (i.e. Army) Supply Trade that serves all the forces. However that is just my own opinion.

It is encouraging that many of our Technical friend’s responses on this thread have been generally positive and probably reflect the views of many out there. :PDT_Xtremez_30:

I see the future of the Supply trade as like any other trade in the RAF, subject to change, especially in the current climate, however I do not see a totally gloomy future (but then again I am a ‘glass is half full’ kind of a guy).

Nice to see a sensible post back on topic and not full of the usual scare-mongering. Yep change is going to happen but it doesn't necessarily have to be for the worse.

We have a future, but it will be with less people and we will end up deploying more often. Which will no doubt increase the bad back brigade figures.

The way things are going we will have junior officers manning USAS terminals as there seems to be a plethera of them at the minute. could this be the future as the officer corp look after themselves as usual.
