Class shear class, there is no need for snazzy recruitment adverts with material like that about.

P.S you can add the Jaguar to your history list !

Sadly, I think that the clip is the last of the conventional RAF as we know it.

Agree with you Sospan, vids like this really sell the RAF to wannabes. But it won't bring back the Jag.

Can someone tell me what you mean by "The Old Days"? Are you talking about just the aircraft and the greater numbers of personal back then or something more/else?

Yes there was greater numbers of personal then :PDT_Xtremez_15:

The vid is the old days of only 16 and a bit years ago.

Rich P. Less than 20 years ago we had loads of personnel and loads of planes. over time , thing have been retired, including airframes and the people who put them in the sky.

Could that be a young TASHY MAN 3mins 44 sec ? :PDT_Xtremez_14:

If only.....but a few things mean it can't be me.

1. I have never worked Jags
2. At the time the vid was made i was still an SAC on my fitters course (FAT6)...When proper techies were made...not just given the "circle of power"
3. I have more hair than he does even now !!

Love that vid though every time it gets posted i have to watch it a few times.....even though it was the start of GW1 they were still good times in the RAF.

Crack on..........:PDT_Xtremez_09:

What a way to fight a war, 4 months in Bahrain wearing very tactical blue quick fit denims. First time most people had ever been to that part of the world and what a shock. Living in 5 Star hotels, rates and watching the bombheads loading 'real' JP233 for the first time. Brilliant vid and fond memories, seems like yesterday though. Eating cat curries from the Gulf Air hangar and building air raid shelters in full IPE only to have the Royal Engineers knock them all down because they were ****e.

Talk wrench...

I was in Dahnran in 1991, being SCUDed at 10 pm every night..

No 5 star Hotel mate, so swivel Troll....

Troll? I'm uglier than that mate.

Anyway. should this not be about reminiscing about the days when we had the last of the RAF.

Not avin a go at you ILLKC.

Pfft, Bahrain.

I was, when this video was made, in a craphole called Tabuk. No hotels, no booze, no women.

12 hour shifts 7 days a week for 4 months.

Time of my life :D

Quality Vids

Quality Vids

Yes, lets reminisce not argue for a change.

Yes, they were the good (not so) old days before Options for Change, SDR and all the other reviews and cut backs took hold and changed the RAF for ever.

There seemed to be 3 grades of GW 1 base:

Tabuk: ISOs, Tents, Field Kitchens
Dhahran: BAe Accommodation, Low Grade Hotels, Field Kitchens
Bahrain: Good Hotels

Either way it seems everybody worked their tits off and everybody enjoyed it.
