Corporate identity. Cost unimportant? who knows. When they were clearing out the storage hangers at Stafford they may have found 30,000 pairs of the old blue coveralls, give a contract to the highest bidder to sew on a blue Royal Air Force numberplate on the chest - hey presto!!!

Stranger things have happened.

and I wonder what it will look like and where the RAF logo on the coveralls will be like - embroidered or screen printed? Do the sensible thing and issue us all with a velcro corporate logo and velcro for the coveralls.

I thought the whole idea of green overalls was one contract in place for tri service? Is it coming to an end?

I've heard it's going to have "sponsored by BAe Systems" on the front.

It says you should wear it, even on public transport - and I drive 27 miles each way to work.

Yes but the tube is a different matter, I have travelled in blues on the tube and been subject of abuse. There is no reason why MoD pers couldn't carry uniform in and get changed (depending on space at work), but I would never advise someone to travel into the city in blues. Someone did say that the Army were doing uniform Wednesday not sure if it is true and how they do it but I dont think they would be travelling on the tube in it. Slightly different from sitting in your car TBH, how many times have you had abuse thrown at you for simply for your uniform when commuting?

Sticking on a Uniform styled in early 80s with little or no history is hardly the way to motivate people in cash strapped times. Plus the dress regs allow folks to buy a chip hat or RAF stable belt because blues are so crap looking, and Sqn cumberbands are more or less the norm in both messes.

You are implying that you think that stable belts and chip hats improve the appearance of blues. Personally I think they are for shiny arsed geeks who want to suck up to officer types and are sad enough to buy such unnecessary tat to do so. Next!

I'll bet you my rockstar wages that it doesn't get enforced...

Its being enforced in my office!!!! Our A3 brethren has taken a photo of himself in greens and was sowing his wings to his jumper last week. Did make the rest of us chuckle rather loudly tho!!:PDT_Xtremez_30:

It's being enforced here too. I've just seen OC Ops in blues for the first time ever. And the mover scum. I might even wander over to the FP Wg in a bit just out of curiosity. :PDT_Xtremez_31:

Kevin999s, please tell me that includes our favourite special forces outfit DARTS. I'd love to see them in blues!

I know the goats main man on military history is over the moon about it! He is waiting for some pongo to have a go at him so he can retort "part of ***U, RAF policy mate!":PDT_Xtremez_31:

The arrogance of some of those pr1cks over on PPrune really grips my sh1t.

Really?? I couldn't have guessed!!

They should all read Vulcan 607. The Victor "Tanker Trash" always wore Blues when not flying, if the book was correct. They got upset when aircrew flying the swing wing breakdown machine couldn't be bothered to do the same!

We all know the RAF is run for growbags, by growbags. I'm sure they will get around the new regs somehow. With the amount of teddies being thrown out of cots I would guess we've almost got enough for a car boot by now.

Off Topicid like enough spares to fix the aircraft but with the money saving going on at the moment its not going to happen anytime soon.

i for one have to agree that unless it is vital to your job you should be in blue not sure about the blue overalls though whats wrong with the ones we have.

We mentioned this in another post

I dread to think how many different types of uniform I've had to wear since I've been in and how much we've been ripped off by the contracts.
It seems these days that each time I exchange kit I get given something different from what I handed in!

Personally, I don't think they've got a leg to stand on! Ocifers get a uniform tax relief of around £360 pa because they have to pay for their own uniforms - the blue ones! I don't think many of them have been queueing up over the last few dacades to pay it back because they haven't been wearing the uniform they get the allowance for!!

And seeing the state of some of the blues they wear when they have to, confirms it's probably just another 'perk' for a lot of them.

What is happening in that great hall of power called NATO HQ. I assume you will all be staying in Green as the tight arse in charge flounces around in a growbag as usual.
