The World Cup..verdicts so far?

  • Following weeks of work, the E-GOAT team are delighted to present to you a new look to the forums with plenty of new features. Take a look around and see what you think!
I've just been watching some old World Cup matches on the BBC archive.

It's made me remember how truly great this competition can be - and how sh1te the current tournament is in comparison so far.

It seems odd so far no-one looks to be playing well at all, it seems any result is possible. New Zealand got a draw against Italy:raf: wonder what the odds on that were!

Yep. Over a week in and I've turned off most of the games I've started watching as they have been utter garbage.
Still, at least with the Italians drawing their second game and the French losing the plot completely, at least we Englanders are not alone in our suffering!

It is a rare occaission where I get to be sat in a pub, unfettered by children and sinificant others, with mates and a fully stamped up chit to drink freely...

And I had to blow the opportunity on that display...ffs...I was in a pub in Coniston that was packed with people who as a one got up at the final whislte and walked out...too sickened to continue on with the mindless drinking!

I tried with the 2 mini tin bashers now 7 and 8 both to young for the last world cup but the chance of stopping up late with crisps and juice just to watch football with daddy drinking beer was to good to miss. Kids primed that England were going to be ok, we had won it before, walk in the park etc. At halftime Miss Mini TB (8) is nodding off and goes to bed fed up, the boy wonder (7) hangs on until the 65th minute says daddy I'm bored can we watch something else. Roll on Wednesday we will be ok won't we?

You never know, we might even get an Englishman to manage the team when Capello gets the boot!

We will be okay following the Danny Baker (radio 5 geezer) theory we are not yet good enough to go out, seems we are playing to poorly to go out just now. England just to put the fans through the mill will improve to level where we once again believe we can win, only then can we go out. We have to reach a stage where we think we can win and all is rosy in the garden. Wednesday we win easy, the national spirit is raised accordingly but we have to play a lesser nation in the last 16 we should win, we don't Danny Baker was right.

If we by some miracle win the group, it will be sods law we play Germany in the knockout phase!

At least against Ze Germans we will probably raise our game and make the match an interesting one!!

Nope, this time we're toast in the group stage I reckon. There is too much disharmony behind the scenes for them to put it right this time.
Next up it will be the qualifiers for Euro 2012 with a new manager by all acounts...
Capello to quit if/when England don't make last 16

And just to show faith in the Manager prior to flying off to South Africa;

The FA removed a break clause, which would have allowed them to sack the 65-year-old for far less, a day before the team flew to South Africa.

And, while sources insist they are not considering the financial implications of any decision to remove Capello, the cost could be in the region of £10m, or two years' salary.

Don't suppose the contracts team recruits from the same pool as MOD Procurement.

Not bad though £10m for totally screwing up.

If you think it's bad in the England camp it will be no where near as bad as the French, their team director has resigned over the FFF sending Anelka home and the team refusing to train.

A fair and accurate analysis by Danny who is obviously a connoisseur of previous England ignominious World Cup exits!
Just start with low expectations and you'll be pretty much spot-on in the end.

Too much faith pinned on an off form Rooney. We may get past Slovakia but cant see us getting much further.
Will be interesting to see if Capello drops some of his big names, I think he will stick with them and expect them to come good on the day.

It's one thing getting past the Slovakians but another one getting past those damned SLOVENIANS....:PDT_Xtremez_42:
