Tranche 2

Yeah, it has been cancelled, for ORs.Tranche 2 will be the last tranche of redundancies for the Royal Navy and Royal Air Force, although a very small number of further redundancies may be required (for OF5s and OF6s and senior medical staff) as Defence Transformation is implemented.

I am hoping that A/C techies will not be on the list this time, i dont want redundancy, I was outside the criteria by 6 months last time and i've been promoted since.

Of course they will be included. There are still a bucket load of TG1 left at Cott/Witt either on drawdown tasks or in made-up posts, as one particular Chief I know is.

I just hope that my rank and trade are included this time.

Unfortunately, not wanting it doesnt debar you from being in the frame.

As this is the "last time" we go through this process, I hope this time they take the right people, leaving those who are capable of doing their bit - 30,000 with 3,000 sickies included is a lot harder than 40,000 with 3,000 sickies.

I believe that the 3 years in rank criteria will also be removed this time so more people eligible to apply/spend 5 months worrying about it.

Removed completely? Or just reduced?

If it were the former, that would put the cat amongst the pigeons as it would effectively mean that just about everyone in every rank and trade included in the quota would be a potential redundee.

There has to be a lot of avionics techies on the chopping block this time round as we are currently 230 people over manned (not including AMMs).

In fact the only people that seem to have left the RAF are A/C Techies, therefore leaving behind the rest of the back up trades to hold the RAF numbers. What a great few years we are going to have, soon the Techie will be the minority trade and be reduced to lower payband. Admin will take on the roles Sqn Admin once more, The Police will return to do guarding duties and base secuirty rather than rely on TG1 and Supply to do there job. MT will finally be able to do DIs and maintain there vehicles while also being able to drive people to hospital appointments and supply will hopefully find drivers older than 21 who can actually drive a van and deliver aircraft parts in time, and hopefully we will have an ident cell once again where you call a stacker and he chases up the correct number as was always done in the past as that was his fecking job !!! not leave the TG1 person to spend 6 hours a day chasing up a number supply changes every year so it looks like they are busy.

Or am i just in a dreamland yet again.....

Recruiting

Recruiting

Even stranger news today that RAF Recruiting has opened up 160 slots for AMM's (50/50, Av/Mech), also recruiting for MT drivers. Really odd if they then make techies redundant?!?!

Not really as everyone knows you can replace someone with 2 years plus of trade training and years of experience with an AMM.....:PDT_Xtremez_42:

You clearly have no idea how many of my trade were kicked out in Tranche 1 and you are living in dreamland if you think we are going back on the gates again. Diatribe posts like yours bring nothing to the party apart from making you look like a dinosaur.

Not really, the RAF always recruit from the bottom. Today's AMMs are the SNCOs of fifteen years time. It's forward planning for once.

Precisely... How many WOs do we recruit each year? Answer - NONE.

We have to recruit in to the lower ranks, so that we can have Senior ranks in 15-30 years...

Assuming there is an Air Force by then of course...

Guys

If this descends into another boring trade bashing fest, posts will be culled or the thread locked. Surely with less than a week to go till T2 you can do better than techies/admin/coppers/mt/et all are lazy/useless/cnuts comments?

You have all been warned.

Jeez guys was only meant to be a joke , sense of humour failure all round. Like my old chief said to me , if you cant take a joke you should not have joined up ...well something along them lines anyway
