Welcome To Swinderby

One thing thats still clear was having to carry a lamp (clear) on the march (early morning/evening) as I was the "marker" The guy at the rear obviously having a red lamp. Both were so ancient they looked like they had been nicked off Guy Gibson's treader.

hehehe Racing floor polishers up the corridors in 91

Actually burnt one of the things out.

Pretending to ice scate with yellow dusters on your feet, stacking beds on top of wardrobes, Making bed packs (does anyone at Halton know what a bed pack is nowadays),

MFT at NAM, luffeNAM. Mile and a half in boots with the old SLR (now thats what i call a rifle) 5 blanks and having to crawl forward a few yards to retrieve the BFA.

Memories best time of my life honest.

I'm with you parky. (Feb 1991)

Garland was my first block, moved to Gibson shortly after.

Running battles down the corridors with broom handles.

Posting guards on the room so the other flights dont come in and 'do' the floor.

'Faith no more' on the Jukebox in the Newcomers club,

Getting about 400 quid for my first pay packet

Falling asleep in the Station Cinema and getting shouted at

Getting beasted by the Rocks and having to hold up the SLR by the sharp end (that was hard)

Waiting for my turn in the Toets test (a fail meant a reflight)

Doing the 1 1/2 mile run and the obstacle course whilst trainee pilots wavered overhead in their flimsy looking chipmunks

Camping in tents (inside the hanger) at Luffenham

Oh the days.......:PDT_Xtremez_26:

Handfuls of nostalgia in this thread. I arrived 29 Dec 76 and passed out early Feb. Memories of snow, DI called Cpl Sw**t, the Halfway House, 18 Flt, red towel round my neck, strange long queues for beer and lots of ex Space Cadets who seemed to know everything. I was a complete fish out of water until well into the technical training bit and then it all seemed to click...

Snap, I joined up on exactly the same date! I've no idea what my Cpl's name was but the Sgt we nicknamed "Sgt F*^K", we'd never heard someone swear so much.

I was on the ground floor of the H block.
