What was number one when you joined ?

Without even looking mine was My Sweet Lord by George Harrison (the first time round)

I'm led to believe Captain Slogs was either

There'll be bluebirds over the White Cliffs of Dover by Vera Lynn (before she was a Dame)

or

White Christmas by Bing Crosby

Dont need to look Beautiful South 'A Little Time' scarily same as Yosser

just realised that I can be really smart and say that the No1 single when I joined up is the same as the current No1 single:

Rhiana Feat Jay-Z: Umbrella.

(probably feels like that for a lot of you too! fcuking song ::/: )

The Number 1 single was:
The Archies - "Sugar Sugar"

The Number 1 album was:
Beatles - "Abbey Road"

Ahhhh, those wree the days!!!!

Exactly the same as mine matey. It was number one when I did my attestation. number one when I got to Swinderby. Number one when I left Swinderby. Got sick of hearing it on the vid jukebox at the newcomers club. That and some song by cnc music factory.

All I have to hear is the first few lines of either of the following and I flash back to Tossford where I'm swinging a bumper across a gleaming floor, trying to put creases into a hairy blue, bulling up boots, putting RAF blue blanco(!) on my side pack and polishing brass buckles .... it didn't affect me really it didn't; I'm sure that it didn't ... absolutely not ...

Maggie May - Rod Stewart
Gypsies, Tramps & Thieves - Cher

"... it's late September and I really should be back at school .... ", "... the people from the town they call us ..." :PDT_Xtremez_42:

True blue - Madonna.

But the songs I remember most from Swinderby are "Take your breath away" - Berlin, along with "Word up" - Cameo and "Walk like an Egyptian" - Bangles they were on the video jukebox almost constantly.
