spiritual Home

spiritual Home

Swinberby Nov 86. I was an ex Junior Soldier in the Infantry so found it a complete doddle. I was an RAF brat aswell so have lived on RAF camps all my life untill I got out in 93 and was dissapointed not to receive a full pension after my 7 years service. Spiritual home has got to be bruggen in the late 70's early 80's - what a camp. Its a shame that all you sprogs who joined after the Berlin wall came down will never know what the real RAF was ever like. Thats progress I suppose. By the way my old fella joined up in 1962 and did his training at Bridgenorth wherever that is. He got out in 86 just as I went in. He isn't Q-Sec-Tinternet tho so he can't vote.

3 flt 1 Sqn Swinderby July 77, then on the last Nav Inst course at Cosford. Spiritual home has to be Binbrook (2 tours) with awesome snowed in parties in the Blue Lion Club with shed loads of very friendly WRAFs to warm you up after spreading cow pi** on Black Top .... which led to the saying ... WRAFs are like warm toilet seats... you're never quite sure whos just been there before you!!!! happy days

Swinderby May '79 & still get all my own hair !!!:PDT_Xtremez_19:

Spiritual home .. Newton .. training and then 2 tours later when it was the proper Police School :PDT_Xtremez_25:

Where has the Air force gone?

To the dog's?:PDT_Xtremez_31:

(Sorry, couldn't resist!)

Mar/Apr 1978, 16 Flt, Cheshire Block.

Does any body remember the ubiquitous FS Wellborn-Davies at Halton at the time who I came across on AAD 36?

I switched trade to fairy in training and went to Cosford, but I retain a fondness for Halton although Cosford was a holiday camp discipline-wise in comparison with Halton . . . hacking and bashing in the sheds . . . NAAFI wagons . . . marching behind the appo band . . . ahh, those were the days!

Home..spiritual or otherwise

Did the Swinditz thing Dec 18th 1980 4 flt. 1 sqn. Gibson block, I remember 5 flt, RE: Mad Pierre chanting "We like pain 'cause it's good for us!" Can't remember the DI's name, but he was the git who wore the eye patch....

Spiritual home : Coltishall, always has been, always will be for many, many reasons :PDT_Xtremez_28:

I clicked the wrong button, I meant to say Swinderby but I clicked Halton. What a turd.

Swinderby July 89 then Halton for my sumpy course

Spiritual home: Lyneham. I just love those big bad cuddly Hercs, even when they do need a prop change

Swinders, 2 Flt Feb 1975, I'll never forget that warm jelly after freezing pass out parade.

Smally. :PDT_Xtremez_15:

Swinderby December 1992 (the last Christmas pass-out parade). Hey, when I was that young a few months was a big difference :PDT_Xtremez_30:

Me too, 18/12/92. Didn't the band play a Christmas carol for us to march to? How awful.

Great stuff.......!!!

Swinders for me. May/June 1990. God knows what intake or who the DI's were but we were the first mixed flight.

Swinders for me - 21 April 1987. Yes thats 21 years ago next monday. Boy dont I feel old!!

Swinderby 03 Oct 83

By the time I left Halton I had been training recruits who were 2 when I joined.

Leuchars was where I was educated in the ways of the world by some very big SACs.

Bruggen was where I lived life and really ripped the arse out of it so that I suppose is where I shall call my spiritual home.

Regards

Swinderby for me, with a fly past of lightnings May 1986. Had to pass out in Thunderbird jacket unfortunately no No 1's for some of us as they didn't have enough uniforms, not much has changed then!

Locking-by-the-Sea for me . . Sep 1965 to Aug 1967 (App. obviously)

Yep! I am THAT old.

So I'm old am I ?

So I'm old am I ?

Swinderby, 1 flight, 1 Squadron. Blue kneck scarves. December 77 to Jan 78. Christmas off but back for new year. Brilliant p**s up in the naafi on New year's eve. R & I camp in Sherwood forest. Loadsa snow and cancelled early due to a lad getting hypothermia. Trade training at Hereford when the WRAF did their basic there. What with them and the trade trainees it was said there was 8 lassies to every laddie. Magic ! Spiritual home has to be Wildenrath and RAF Germany in general. Been out the mob longer than I was in now. Working at Coningsby with BAE. Seeing what they have to put up with, I don't envy the job the youngsters have to do today at all !
