Almost time for the annual bleetfest..Cpl - Sgt board 2013

  • Following weeks of work, the E-GOAT team are delighted to present to you a new look to the forums with plenty of new features. Take a look around and see what you think!
I think I have calmed down enough to post now.....

B Grade, Not sent to board, I am due out at pretty much the same time as Sparks.

12 years in rank, 21+ years in.

Highs and Exceptional for the past 10 years but took a dip with my first assessment at the West Mids Training base which was given after 3 months in post, (See a different thread about the Service Complaint I raised against it, which was upheld)

I was told that SJAR would not be looked at but I have a sneaking suspicion it was.

I am contacting the Chf Clk for a review tomorrow to find out if there was Pre-Board feedback.

in any case, My career in the RAF is pretty much over.

PS I am mates with a High Flyer WO who recently left the WMTB, if he wants to get in touch for a chat then feel free, (Hint there Spike!)

There must be a reason why 12 years and multiple highs/exceptional's that you did not get picked up. Playing devils advocate here so don't take the wrong way but do have you done enough to compete with the top 25? Time in rank counts for nothing after 3 years.

You say that but 3 years in rank in my eyes is not long enough to get a broad enough experience, it should be 5 years minimum and at least on second tour.

What you have just said there (without actually saying it i know) is that a 3 year corporal on a help desk is better than a five year corporal who has been to, i don't know, TCW and maybe Henlow where there is a requirement to lead from the off, a help desk is not any where near a proper tour, especially for ex3's and 11's.

(I don't know anyone in that position i'm just using it as an example.)

I suspect i know who you are on about, didn't use to drive a TVR did he.

Wasn't this his last one too?

Spammy, it seems obvious to me that your RO's couldn't back up the recommendations that they gave with factual examples. You have ended up with assessment creep.

Put your feet up and ride the wave

Well, that was very interesting, just got back from the UCA, seems my last report from Bravo troop screwed me over, admittedly the thing about the number cut ****ed me off but having just reread it i can see why.

Reading between the lines the impression given was that i couldn't give a ****.

well it's gone for the next one, and as i'll still be read i MIGHT still stand a chance next year.
Fingers crossed, and i'm a lot happier now i know why.

How do you know you will still be read?

I've heard quite a few times that Exceptionals automatically get read, but I have been through the Manning Promotion Board Brief on the manning website and it make no mention of this anywhere.

Paperwork is in to the UCA via my good WO,

See what they have to say.

I asked the questions people have been asking me for years..

"What have you done wrong" and "Who did you upset".

Not looking for a reboard or anything.. Just answers!

Probably should have made that clearer.

It will still be read by the Pre-boarding team, not just put in a pile of 'oops too late'.

Hi Spammy, just trying to understand how you can possibly have an SJAR raised against you after only 3 months in post....surely you left your previous unit with an SJAR on posting or if you didn't then you should of had at the least 6 months and 1 day to serve at your new unit....I take it that your Service complaint was upheld on these grounds??

Since this is the Bleetfest then I am in the right place.

Just had a career brief and was told that the Unfair Assessment from last year was included but it didn't make any difference, I am not competitive and have not been for years.

What is the point in committing 21 years of your life and having it all thrown back at you.

I was given advise on what I can do to make myself look better before my next assessment, (Which is already with my 1st RO so I have about a month to improve).

Otherwise I am on ME time.

So for the benefit of others, what reasons did they give for you not being competitive and what advice did they give to make you look better?

If you haven't been competitive for years, why haven't you asked this question before now. Didn't you find it strange you were being overlooked again and again?

Selected for Promotion 2 boards ago but board was subsequently cut........ Constantly being told I was at the top of my game, (With the exception of the Unfair Treatment last year which the Service Complaint was upheld).....

I guess it is entirely my fault for believing what my Supervisors / Bosses etc tell me, when in fact I am crap and should have left the service while I still had my youth.

Nevermind. CV Writing time now!

Selected for Promotion 2 boards ago but board was subsequently cut........

Selected or on the reserve list inside the original quota?

Selected would indicate that you have been released from the PSL, anything other than that and you have certainly not been selected for promotion.

Selected for Promotion 2 boards ago but board was subsequently cut........ So what you are saying is that you had a promotion offer and PIC number to go into and then they pulled the rug from under your feet.or are you trying to say that the Quota was XXX amount, you fell into that quota but unfortunatly the manners didnt release down to that number.i.e. for aurguments sake you were number 19, the Quota was 30, and they released 16.that does not mean you were selected for promotion.Trust me i know what that feels like, i was within the quota two years running for one promotion and they released the number above. I was last man standing off each board, but i dug my heels in and refused to put down. I also know people that this has happened for more than three years running, its a right kick in the slats but it doesnt mean you are crap. It just means that there are "X" number of people in your rank that are better than you or there RO's are better at writitng assesments and writting what the boards want to see. If you are on the PSL at number (anything below 100) out of how many people in your rank. then you have done well.

So are you able to answer the question as to why you were uncompetitive "for years"...?
