BBC saying if the UN vote yes to the no fly zone over Lybia (in the next hr or so) then RAF Jets could be in action over the contry tomorrow!!!!!!

I know were good but unless theres a hidden sqn or two out there then I very much doubt it!!!!!

That was how I thought of it too, at least without the political angle. Here we have an operation in which the Army will play no part (notwithstanding any SF, which I wouldn't know about).

Still, I'm curious to see where the FJs will be based from - a carrier group would be kind of useful at this point.
 
Lots of basing available now the Italians are on board...more importantly who is going to foot the bills...Cyprus is free but a little too far away if we're honest...anywhere else will/may mean hotac and rates which will get the bluntys BP up...
 
I'd quite happily go back to Palermo and set the det up. Great hotel, loads of wonga and 1 Tristar. Perhaps even a medal to go with it, just like last time!!!!

Cyprus is also looking kind of full now. And the Reds haven't arrived for their pre-season work up yet!

A certain North Scotland 2nd line maint facility may have pulled out all the stops to generate some aircraft that may have lunched to a camp in Norfolk late Wed and Thurs, some sort of exercise so I’ve been lead to believe. Watch this space.
 
Since the Arabs are on board with this maybe we can use some airfields in Tunisia or Egypt.

Do the french still have loads of bases in North Africa?

Why not make use of RAF Gibraltar? Probably close enough without having to drag the Navy into it - suppose the runway length needed will depend what airframe they send up, and Gib's got a bloody short runway! Could do with a Harrier or two about now...

Gib is about the same distance away as Cyprus.

I reckon it will be Deci or Tabuk in Saudi Arabia.
