last august i phoned my drafter to "volunteer" to do an ooa to afghan(a specific op which i cant name for sec reasons)

drafter said brill will get you sorted straight away.

jpa assignment comes through for khandahar in november last year with x amount of courses to do.

i complete all courses and about a month before im due to go another assignment order pops up for Fi in march with another load of courses to do!

start courses in november last year(deods)and then try and sort out courses for this year.

cue another assignment on jpa and date put back to july this year(still is)

so start trying to book courses for this and then get told what i first said in my first post.

so today ive managd to sort dates for all courses and between now and when i go in july i will have about 4 weeks(maybe 5 at a push) with my family before i go.


im not whinging , far from it in fact i dont mind going and am quite looking forward to going down south.

its the fact my ooa has changed so much and then when trying to sort my courses out i get told to sit on my hands for a bit whilst they cant decide what to do im left with a ****ty situation which is not my fault at all.

never mentioned dicking someone else , what i said was that i find it hard to believe that im the only one out of x amount of sac armourers with the relevant q's which is what ive been told is the reason for all this!!

I always thought that MPA was OOTW (Out of the way) more than OOA!!! :PDT_Xtremez_14:

I was supposed to go to Bosnia a few years ago. Got changed the DAY before to Basrah. I didn't even have the right colour clothes!!!! Felt a real dick at Brize waiting for that flight in green!!!!

Me and the Missus still laugh about that.

So just how would you describe the action of sending someone in your place at less notice than you received, or leaving some poor dumb sap in-theatre until you feel you're ready to go? :PDT_Xtremez_41:

well thats what is going to happen as they are having to delay me by a week or so until i can finish the courses!!

i feel sorry for the lad im replacing!

still cant see where i have mentioned dicking someone else??

what i said is im sure there are other sac that have the q's already!!

the excuse i was given is that im most qualified, yet ive got to fit in 5 course before i can go???

if i wanted them to dick someone else i would have said...." why cant they dick someone else to do it"

Which can be read as "they should send somebody who already has the Q rather than me".


We all sympathise with your situation but the only way out of it is for somebody else to take the sh1t pie.

Sometimes you just have to hold your nose and take a bite.
 
Course, you could "man up" (whatever the hell that is), and continue to tacitly hide the culpable administrative and managerial incompetence displayed by your desk and that led you to where you are at present, compromising not only your own well-being but that of your family. In this instance, and has been stated, it has happened before and WILL happen again.

The alternative may be to "man up" and go as planned, but make damned sure that it goes in writing and gets a response from someone who actually has the gonads to accept responsibility for screwing, quite unnecessarily, with your family.

I rather suspect though that it will receive the very big broom and very well handled rug treatement by your desk if you just call them - careers being rather precious and all right now.

Bottom line - all this "manning up" is all very brave - but it's your family they are screwing with, not you. So i guess it depends upon who you respect more - tough call.

Like I said previously....it's an admin cluster......but would rents ever get a straight, honest answer or even an apology for the messing-about that he's received? I doubt it.

And that is the crux of it all. What happened to the person on 4 months reserve for the post? Or is that just a myth that the 4 months mean anything?

Admin? What were you lot doing? Counting the payrise?
