argh about to get f&*ked over at work with ooa!!!!

  • Following weeks of work, the E-GOAT team are delighted to present to you a new look to the forums with plenty of new features. Take a look around and see what you think!
My experience with the OOA desk:

5 days before xmas grant I get an assignment to Falklands for March, coupled with a course beginning straight after the grant that took me right up to 10 before I flew. This was also 12 months earlier that I was due to go (and the official manning site turn-around time)
What's more, I knew I didn't need the course, my section in the Falklands knew I didn't need it, but the desk wouldn't listen.
I ended up doing it with several other blokes who didn't require it.

To top it all, at least 3 of the guys on the course got assignment orders during the course, sending on a duplicate course straight after they had completed that one!

In short, PMA didn't know where it's people where or what Q's they required.

In the end I was left with 65 days leave to take in half a leave year and a Q I have never used and a section at my home unit that didn't see me between Cristmas and the following August!!

He didn't have no notice.... Read the op's comments he knew he was going. It has come as no surprise to him at all. He hasn't been dikced to go he is peeved he has courses to do in stead of spending time with his family. In fact he is going away later than he should have been as he should have gone nov last year IIRC.

what im ****ed with is the fact that yes i knew i was going in november but how come its taken them this long to sort out all my courses and then decide to give them me in such a short time frame??

why couldnt i be doing them in jan/feb ??? that would of made my life a bit easier??

to right im ****ed with not being able to spend time with my family before i go away for 4 months , its not my fault that manning et al are so inept??

but its me and my family that are getting ****ed around by them.

Rafbird i take it by some of your quotes you are a singly with no kids......

you'd think wrong then. I have a family of my own and too have felt the wrath of last minute dets..... Try iraq for 5 months with 6 hours notice to move. Yes it's **** but it's what we get paid for. I am due ooa to the sand pit in jan 11. But I am fully prepared that I will more than likey go in sept this year and will have at least 3 courses to do. Gutting but one of them things.... I know that I shall be making the most of the summer with my 4 year old son that I possibly can. :)

You also completely failed to see his point, and it wasn't the one you assumed it was.

I must have missed it if you say so!

I hope, just in the interests of fairness, that you post everyone who may have gone off topic with your 'off topic' heading!

No. Didn't think so!

I apologise for this being off topic. Perhaps a thread for precious people should be started?

Off Topic

You really have got yourself in a tizz.

The "Off Topic" icon, was to say that I was aware that a portion of the post I was making was Off Topic, not that you were.

But feel free to carry on having a hissy fit if you like.

as have you. You have said yourself that you. Have known for ages you were going ooa. If you haven't made the most of he time with your family it is no-ones fault but your own. Enjoy your tour. I don't suppose you'll have the time to answer this post as you will be too busy spending all your spare time in between courses with your family ;)

on a serious note though. . . . Enjoy mpa, least you can get a beer there at a night time.

FFS be positive about it - aren't your family happier that you are going to MPA rather than somewhere else? - the most that could happen there is that you come back with some liver problems...:PDT_Xtremez_14:

I do sympathise however; to be messed around like this when you had originally volunteered is ridiculous. Complain if you want but it won't change unless you develop a bad back....!

Air Force not the Fair Force and all that sh!te, life in a blue suit and all that sh!te........more likely either incompetence by the to$$er at Manning or it was absolutely necessary to seemingly mess you about - we don't know the actual details - why not ask your drafter to explain why all the messing around?

what i hadnt planned for is to be on courses right up until i go through no fault of my own!

i had planned to have a week or so at home with my family (already had the leave in) before i go.

i cant be arsed talking to my drafter as he just spouts off the usual service reasons bull****!!

also not asking for it to be the fair force been in 12 years now and ive come to realise im just a number! just wanted to get across the fact that sometimes due to things out of your own control you get ****ed about without any proper explanations

cheers

renton

oh and to be fair i would have preferred t be on my way to the desert which is what i volunteered for in the first place!
