To be honest, this is an unofficial rumour site and not a reference site. So your expectation of answers there and then as well as your responses to those that have offered suggestions are IMHO bang out of order.

Obviously without going into the full details on here it's very hard to judge but your first port of call should be your Chf Clk. You'll find the welfare organisation falling over themselves to help you in a genuine situation and you will probably be offered Preferential Treatment in the first instance which is a short term fix (initially 6 months but can be extended to 18 in exceptional circumstances) but if it doesn't 'fix' your problems you will be discharged on compassionate grounds; it's not a case of let me go now as I have a problem and want out. If that is the case then ET as others have said and ask for a specific date and explain your circumstances. You will also find that you are helped as much as possible by all the organisations involved dependant on the circumstances of your case.

Ultimate decision will be made by Casework at HQ Air after consultation with other parties involved (SSAFA, Chf Clk, Doctors, Padre, Manning). AP ref for PT is 3392 Vol 2. Good luck.

honestly, im not asking for answers, i have asked for the reference of what ap i need to look at. my original and first post clearly asked for 2 bits of information
1. what ap/jsp
2. the procedures set out at manning to make the decision.

again underneath the poster gave me the information i required and i thank you for that.
Yes i understand its a rumour site, but also i posted in "service gen" thus looking for some gen, not a solution. why would i ever want to discuss a sensitive subject on the rumour website??? and it was responses to one (yes one poster) i gave my honest opinion too, everyone else has been thanked and appreciated.

fin.
my posting is finished, i thank the posters who read my question and gave good gen.

I offered suggestions in lieu of a compassionate discharge. You in turn launched into a personal attack, however, I am bigger than that, and my Intelligenge, Integirty and importance allows that attack to pass.

Your original post was ambigious to say the least, and people will be naturally inquisitive as we in the RAF are taught to question things.

If you had just said on the original post without the additional information in the post, and I will use your words

"1. what ap/jsp
2. the procedures set out at manning to make the decision."

Then I am sure that the fallout would not have happened.

If you are that set on getting out quick, you might find laying a log on your Co's desk will help.

If you are serious about finding help for a compassionate reason this should never be your first port of call, however if you are really rooting around for your next story try harder.

Agreed, i highly doubt any e-goat member can spout off a JSP number when questioned whilst PSF is shut, and for those who work on sections that are open weekends checking the JSP online for info, would be like looking for a needle in a haystack.

If I were you i'd get a normal PVR banged in first thing monday (so if you're compassionate case is slowly dealt with you may find yourself out by PVR in quick time)

To make along story short I had a compassionate discharge kicked out this week, to say I am horrified its an understatement but I am wanting to know what ap or jsp is used for the guidance with regards to the compiling of the casework?
I think PSF have royally mucked it up with ill-informed advice and I need to now go forward with an appeal. I have the support from psychologists/doctors/peri natal/gp's/ and saafa and have written to support my case.

Also does anyone know who at manning/command make their decisions and how they are made.

I have done 10 years, done all my dets/guard/fitness tests/lastminute.com's etc. But at my time of need a big fat 2 fingers were put up at me and with the door goes behind me..........shame my problem doesn't stop that easy!

OK I have underlined the key points to my original post.

1. My compassionate case got kicked out.
2. What the jsp/ap used as guidance for compiling casework.
3. Doctors/pyschologists/saafa are involved and support my FAMILY.
4. And a general question on how decisions are made.

Call me what you want but I am asking 2 genuine questions not looking for solutions, maybe people should just read what is front of them.
Yes my story is vague but as you can all understand somethings are not open for public discussion, but if again you read the bit about phychologists and doctors part then you should be able to appreciate that its not a glass back/can't be bothered anymore/ or trying to con the system by failing my fitness test to try and get out. And maybe I turned here for some info, not sympathy but also to be respected with regards to my families private life.

Brilliant, put those 2 questions up and expect people not to be "inquisitive as we in the RAF are taught to question things." your words not mine. The additional information was put so people could see that I am a genuine poster, who has served for 10 years, not ten mins and is crying off.

I've had a bloody awful week this week, and I am now trying to gather as much information as possible to come back with stronger casework and show the Air Force the huge mistake that is being made, hence wanting to hear what people know, understand and can help.

Just because it took a while for someone to answer your query in the way you wanted, no need to take umbrage at those that didn't give you chapter and verse. Most folk are only trying to be helpful in their own way. It is an on-line forum, so a certain amount of daftness and alternative advice has to be expected. We know it's probably very important to you and you may think a huge mistake is being made, but once you start firing back, you rather open yourself up for a bit more of a prod. :PDT_Xtremez_15:

BTW, it's SSAFA, not saafa.

Suggest you read the first underlined bit again.

I had a compassionate discharge kicked out this week

Says to me you got it, taken with everything else you wrote it made it look like you had been booted out against your will.

The casework cell at HQ Air is made up of two experienced WO's and a Sqn Ldr who will have read all the evidence put forwad to them by all the agencies (SSAFA, PMS, Padre, Docs, peri natal etc, etc). They will ask their own Med casework personnel for their advice and make an informed decision based on what they are being told by all those agencies and may even ask for further evidence or clarification. These people have vast experience in this field and will have made the judgement based on all the evidence given to them; if you don't like it you can do one (or more) of the following things imho:

1. Appeal.
2. Service Complaint.
3. Request copies of the full case and rational behind the decision made by Casework (you should have the majority of this info anyway).
4. ET.
5. Take it on the chin.

Having done 10 years though I don't see what difference a discharge on compassionate grounds or by ET will make; you will still only qualify for a preserved pension as far as I am aware.

I think what is confusing all of us is that a compassionate discharge is a virtual unknown in this day and age so I doubt anyone but an expert is able to guide you on that one. In addition it is generally so easy to walk in to PSF and cash in your chips that the rest of us can't understand why you "appear" to be going a very long way around getting to your indicated aim which is discharge. So let me ask a question that the rest of us can't figure out - what possible advantage has a compassionate discharge over any of the other ways of achieving your goal?

So if the decision had have gone the op way he wouldn't be in here saying the RAF messed. Just pvr if you want out.

Ps sometimes things don't go our way. Thats life.

I may be completely way off but I see it this way . At the completion of your enlistment or early termination (PVR) the RAF will say "Thanks awfully sunshine, the main gate's that way." You are then expected to make your own way in the world.

If the RAF decides that it does not want you anymore and discharges you, you are effectively getting the sack. The RAF is then depriving you of your home and income and you can throw yourself at the mercy of the Welfare State to support you.

Have to ask the same question here, why compassionate? Sounds like there's some reason or benefit for going this way?

If you need out ASAP and you're not after anything that the compassionate discharge may bring (that we don't know about) then speak to your management. I'm sure they will know a little of what has happened. Hopefully they will understand, if they do and they are happy to run light without you then you can PVR and be out in days. I know that the period is 6 months but this can be waived if need be, and I suspect you have a very strong case.

I appreciate I haven't given you the AP or JSP references you asked for, however, I have tried to help you. Reading some of your posts you haven't helped yourself with some of your responses. I trust you're not going to treat me the same. Good luck!
