To all goat members,

This is a special appeal to all members of e-goat and the serving RAF community.

Cpl Nick Lock of 6 Sqn, who beat colon cancer four years ago, only for it to return in his lymph nodes. Unfortunately Cpl Lock's local health care trust will not fund a much needed drug called Cetuximab, as it has not met the guidelines of the National Institute of Clinical Excellence.

This is a bad blow to Cpl Lock as Cetuximab costs in the region of £700 a week and will have to be administered in a private clinic.

On behalf of e-goat, we are putting out an urgent plea for members to please give Cpl Lock a fighting chance of overcoming cancer. Cetuximab may only have a 25% chance of working, but this is Cpl Lock's only chance.

Fellow moderator Mad_Moriarty has provided us with a Paypal account that can be used straight away for people to donate.

We understand that this may not the ideal system as the Egoat is acting on your behalf as collectors for the official fund but this was the quickest way we could find to allow online donations. The donations will be closely monitored and accessed by the Egoat treasurers, MingMong/sumps, charity reps Mad_collie/Gemarriott and legal Beagle Mad_Moriarty.

Donations can be made by visiting paypal here https://www.paypal.com/ and entering our account email address

Our Paypal account e-mail address is : paul@tietacs.org.uk
Please add your user ID in the Paypal comments box.

Donations are also glady accepted in cheque form. Please PM me for account details & address.

Whatever your donation, We are truly thankful.

A few ideas...

A few ideas...

Hi there,

This thread has finally prompted me into registering for the Goat! A few ideas on fundraising... Good old buckets on the gate sounds like the best idea to me. If the guys from Nick's Sqn maybe wrote to every Stn Cdr and tried to organize it for the same day we could really get somewhere. Maybe call the campaign 'a pound for nick' or something along those lines. If everyone in the RAF put a pound in then that would be Nick's treatment paid for. With enough publicity it's not unrealistic.

With the summer coming up there's plenty of events that collections could take place at. If every one at the Waddo airshow put a pound in then again we would probably have raised the £36K. Digby's party in the park is not far off either. I think this is where Huey's idea would come into its own. Most people on Stn would have a job to do at these events I guess so why not see if some of the local ATC Sqns want to come and do some collection in exchange for free tickets. There's also families' days, summer balls etc coming up. A letter to every Stn charities' rep could mean a fair bit of cash from these events.

Just my two pence worth - PM me if there's anything I can help with.

Nick - if you could do it last time with 'no chance' then you're on to a winner this time - keep your chin up mate!

Just to remind everybody, if you can't afford to donate yourselves, please try to help out by doing something like this.

My sister (explained in a thread about 3 months ago) has a cancerous brain tumour. When we had her care transferred from Manchester (where she had surgery and initial care) back to Belfast City Hospital...the NHS trust here would not fund the Cancer drug she was told was her best chance by Christies in Manchester. Obviously we were devestated as the cost of the drug per treatment was £12,000. Clearly we would as a family, do anything to make sure she could have whatever was thought best to give her a fighting chance. We still 'complained' to the NHS and put up a bit of fight as we already had a second opinion and an NHS trust elsewhere who would have funded it...although when push came to shove we would sell our own body parts to make sure she got the drugs.
Having aquired the money...2 days before treatment, the NHS here came up trumps and the drug was licensed/recognised ot whatever it takes to have it prescribed by the NHS trust and given without cost. We are very very lucky.

I understand the trauma that this postcode lottery places Nick and his family in and would encourage everyone to think hard to what this would mean to them if it was a member of their family or indeed themselves.

Donation will of course be inbound (put I have to reactivate my Paypal and that might take a few hours!)

Good Afternoon to you all, I hope you are all keeping well. I have been keeping watch on the fund for Cpl Lock, in case you are not aware Paypal charge for every individual donation that is made to his fund so rather than loose the overall figure, myself and Mad Mo have decided to donate the Paypal charges so he will receive the full amount donated by yourselves.

Best Wishes Mrs MM

OK folks, there is a lot to discuss about the state of our health service, public finance, rights and wrongs but this particular thread is not the place to do it!

What we are trying to do here is be positive and help a mate as Ming mong and Nutty bird among others have said leave your politics at the door it's your money we need. By all means go debate the issues but elsewhere on the goat please.

Therefore I am going to tidy up again and remove all but the posts designed to keep this thread in the eye of the public or those which offer other ways to raise money. No offence intended to those whose posts are removed. I know you all mean well but let's keep the appeal thread tidy.

Donation sent. Nice work by all keep it up!!! I would offer to help with the gate collection at Cosford but I am off to the Sunny Falklands tommorow.

Good luck to Nick you will be in my thoughts and prayers mate!

I'm sure the good folk at MPA will drop a shiny liney pound in your bucket if you wave it them,

Bon voyage Chip, have a good trip

Come on folks, we have raised this much so far from just 40 generous donators.

As FOMz has said, it's payday so dig deep. There is no minimum on what you can donate. Lets see that Paypal account rising.

Every penny counts!

As one of the administrators of the 16 Squadron (Buccaneer) Groundcrew website, I have just put a request with the link to the user account and 'Paypal' details onto our website.

Hopefully there will be a response from our members .

I'm guessing Nick himself or Nick's mates are checking all the boards for progress and news...If I'm right can you keep us updated on the grand total every now and again...It'll motivate people if they see the total going in the right direction to keep fundraising...

Thanks...Vim

We are over the £700 mark.

Please keep those donations coming in.

If any of the E-Goat community are out there shaking tins/rattling buckets, please let either mad_collie or gemarriott know via PM.

This way we can keep track of who is doing what, and keep our 'running total' updated.

Many thanks.:PDT_Xtremez_28:
