Having only left 90SU 4.5 years ago, to now be going back...well take what you will from that as to how I feel about it, one tour away from there and now I'm back. With 18mths left, it grips my **** when you get comments along the lines of why did you accept the offer. The answer is obvious enough, it was my last opportunity. There are no options available, other than civvy street.
Manning will not entertain you applying for jobs that come up on the volunteers register, regardless of whether your qualifications meet those asked for. You have signed as having accepted the promotion and posting and that is the end of it, do not pass go, do not collect £200.
What is the point of a volunteers register? :dejection:

you got an offer! you've accepted. congratulations! Stop your eff1n whinging cos there are many of us out here who appear (Based on your comments) more deserving and would jump at the opportunity that you have been given.
you utterly ungrateful so and so.

So that once you've been stiffed on promotion, you can then start to try negotiate your own career, the first one is the kick in the slats. But that is seen to be believed. Has anything positive actually happened under Zeus yet, as I don't fancy spending the rest of my time in commuting at weekends. Happy to do tour at home tour away if it works for everyone, will get quite disheartened if people just end up sitting in jobs forever again. I can see that some jobs that were not closed down are now going to interview and CV to try and find people with the right skills, which effectively closes them down if you don't have that skill set. So I will await my career review, and see what happens and hopefully I'll be able to see my daughter grow up during the week between 4 and 8 - 9 instead of seeing her at a weekend, and the first couple of hours with her being a bit funny with me as I haven't been home all week.

Sounds like the better option for you TBH. The promotion you really deserve

Perhaps the jobs section in your local rag might be more your scene.

I think you may be pushing this a bit far EG... Fair enough FB is disappointed but he has accepted the offer and the posting that goes with it......... I have a suspicion, (And secretly a hope) that you are just Trolling a bit...... @ FlyingB.. DO NOT FEED THE TROLLS !...... Spamout

Are you aware of when 2 Sqn deploy? Might be worth touching base with your new boss to avoid any nasty surprises.

Cheers for that unruly, already been in touch and aware.

Got IMLC and TMT booked through Feb and Mar so that may get me a pass on this one, but we shall see.

We all have choices in life, if you choose to make a static base for whatever reason, be it your wife's job, your children's schooling, you want to live in your own house, etc etc, you will at some stage have to commute and be a weekend dad or husband. The alternative is to move your family when you're posted which may have a negative effect on your wife's career and may impact on your children's education among other things, but you will get to see your family grow up which, after all, is what life's all about.

The Dec 11 manning update gives a new total of 55 not 60 for Cpl to Sgt, so as things stand it leaves 10 lucky buggers who will be getting an extra stripe (less those who turned down 90SU!).

Good luck you next 10, and to the 5 cut from the original quota I'd say there is always next year however I don't want to be lynched...

Do you have a Linky to this as if it is Pucka then I may be Fcuked for the forseeable future.Spamout

Nevermind... Found it. Well..... Thats a kick in the balls. If it didn't come off this year then my next chance is in the bog as I was posted in February and had my assessment writen in May by a guy who had only worked with me for 2 months, (It was explained as the best possible solution as I would miss an asessment otherwise). I guess if the RAF doesn't need Keen, Go Getters who have committed their entire adult life to the service for 20 years then there isn't a lot I can do about it. :( **sadface** Spamout

But with the Sgt-FS sitting this month, wouldn't the immediate releases open up more than 10 posts before the next Cpl-Sgt board in Apr/May

You would hope so but surely they would have been taken into account with the Predictions already?? And I believe the next Cpl - Sgt board is not due until the Begining of Jun. Will have to wait and see but I still think I may have "Taken an Arrow to the Knee" here... Spamout

If its June Spammy, the forcast of only 10 released to the PSL sounds very low (even if this forcast doesn't include the SGT-FS board)

no difference

That was the same last year, I know a lot who missed out last year due to there only being 9 released between Jan and May(IIRC), but then we did have Easter and the Wedding which seemed to mean not a lot of work going on at manning.

5 short of the quota this year will be very good compared to 30 short last year.

I know a guy in a similar situation to spammy and he dropped this year due to a posting and an OOA which meant his annual was a bit weaker. No justice I am afraid.

cheer up Spammy . we both start re-settlemet in the next couple of months :PDT_Xtremez_07:.

Time for an Update??

Time for an Update??

Has anyone heard anything new over the past two weeks. There seems to have been a bit of a slow down of information. Perhaps due to the Tranche 2 stuff that is going on. Just a quick question though, Since the December Bullletin stated 45 promotions so far, does that mean 45 offers or acceptances. If so what number are they actually up to and are there going to be 10 more offers or promotions?? We may be having a brief by the Lovely Drafter types down here at the West Midlands Training base sometime in the future so I will pose these questions then too. Unless of course any info is forthcoming on here. Spamout fer now

Apollo

Speak to your apollo rep.
They will be able to tell you where they are on the list and maybe how many before you have med lims etc. They will even send an email to the desk. It will get ignored like any emails anybody else sends i guess but it's worth a try.

I spoke to my Apollo rep today, there is still no change with 45 people released. Last release was in Oct 11, I was told to come back in a week or so and if manning haven't updated the portal then Mr Apollo will give them a phone.

Hopefully the release of Sgt-FS board will have some impact, especially as it straddles the 2011 and 2012 Cpl-Sgt boards.
