Cpl-Sgt Board 2012

To be fair, i hear on rumour control only 40 actual promotions, though they reached 48 this through folk have PVR'ing, declining etc.But Good luck to all who have bought a ticket for this years lottery!!

Had news this morning here at the Secret West Midlands Training base that they are now well past the 40's.. I believe they are now into the Early 50's......

Spamoutstfu

I was duly informed that I was the last IM versus 4 x Techs all being judged for an IM slot and that a Tech would automatically have the slot and that was for position 48.

not sure about that cashew. there are a large number of Sgt positions being lost in Holland/Belgium
shortly.......10+ are not being replaced

Off Topic(slightly) You can also add Germany NATO posts onto that as well. Just found out by the back door that my FS post is not being replaced by the UK after I finish very soon. We also have 4 Sgt posts (2 definitely not being filled) so far.
No idea what manning are up to at the moment, but there is definitely something happening that we are not aware of behind the scenes.

55 got the nod earlier today. Slim possibility it may get to 60 before the next board.

Blimey, If that is Gen then they have really pulled out all the stops for this PSL. I wonder if they are trying to fill as many slots as possible now so they don't have to go over with the next PSL?? Lets hope not since the Manning site still has a Prediction of 25!

Spamout

So today I get told I was selected for promotion (told last year i was number 55) BUT i can't have it because of my med cat! Not fit enough to be in the raf even though I represent GB in triathlons! What a f**king joke. Stick it up their ar$e

Fit enough to go do sport but are you fully deployable? if the answer is yes then fair play - you should have been promoted.

If not? Unlucky - the RAF is not here to help you with your hobby forever.

I have to agree!

I take it that you don't have long enough on your current engagement (guessing that you are approaching either 12 or 22) to fulfill 2 years in rank as a Sgt. Therefore the Manning people have their hands tied. I take it that your med cat is permanent and also prevents you deploying?

The military is getting smaller and can not afford to keep and promote personnel that can not fulfil their Service commitment, your sporting prowess has little or no weight to change this, nor should it!

Funny that cashew, i know (and am sure you do) a few that cannot deploy yet spend hours every day "training"........ still getting the numbers every year

But it appears to be willing to keep people on a perm med cat in for their engagement?
I am sure there is a SGT in the same state somewhere taking the cash.
On the same standing if you can't be promoted due to med state how can they keep you in now?

Just to be clear, i've had 3 days sick in 21 years and 2 months of service, i've never dodged a detachment, i've done TCW and was ordered to the Med Cen by the SMO and told I had to be downgraded due to my medical condition. I fought it all the way and argued with the docs at med board using the fact that if i'm fit enough to do ironman races and race at national level then how the hell can I not be fit enough to deploy. It's very much a case of the medical "experts" who have downgraded me and not the other way round like most det dodgers. I was furious when they did this to me, as far as i'm concerned there is nothing really wrong with me but they just read their AP's and made a decision based on that rather than looking at an individual case of someone clearly displaying all the characteristics of a healthy person. All I would need to do to fulfill a OOA would be take my medication with me in advance or the med cen could send it out to the medical staff in theatre to issue to me. It's that simple, so i certainly am not a det dodger taking advantage of the system, more a case of being f**ked over by the system.

This wasn't a dig at you CMR, everyone's circumstances are different. My point is there are a few who cannot deploy yet seem to find lots of time for "training".

I don't think I was looked at? My letter from manning said i'd be held on the selection list until I leave in April or my med cat changes i.e if I was upgraded i'd be promoted. So onwards with the exit strategy for April I guess.
