Cpl-Sgt Prom Board 2014

  • Following weeks of work, the E-GOAT team are delighted to present to you a new look to the forums with plenty of new features. Take a look around and see what you think!
If the SAC board is anything to go by then people might be disappointed. We've been briefed that due to lack of phase 2 coming through Cosford, the bottom 3rd of the last board have been told well done for coming off the board but you are now not being promoted.

Where and who briefed you? People I know would be v interested in this.

Today

Today

Some amusing scenes today, as it was my first day back after a few weeks on hols.

it seems that I didn't win the lottery again this year. The line manager who had called me in was amazed on two fronts:

1. I had no idea a board had even sat
2. I was not surprised in the least that I won't be getting a 5% pay rise again

turns out he and the boss were convinced I was going to be on my way at some point this year. They are both fuming about it and can't believe I'm not. I've told them, I'm pretty good at not getting promoted as I've had nearly a decades practice :PDT_Xtremez_28:

The boss is really beating himself up about it, as he was 1st RO last year. I've told them that I don't blame them at all, I blame the wa***rs who have mismanaged the trade to the point where were only promoting about 25 people each year. I used to laugh at one of my best mates who is a TG5 Leccy when he told me how few of his trade got promoted each year. It really was dead men's shoes.

turns out my trade is just as bad now !

So Naive....

So Naive....

They don't and I doubt they could either otherwise the conspiracy theorists would have an absolute field day......... 'How many bloody techies/peanuts' etc etc

They don't need a box they can tell.
If there is any mention of "fixed" "worked on" or "mountain" in the report it goes straight in the bin.

Ref TG4. If 11s can get to SGT in 10 yrs and FS in 14. The 4s should be well on their way by now. But you would need to be female and stay in the same job for 10 years!

All the bull about not settling for a poor assessment is rubbish too. There is nothing you can do about it if the 1st RO thinks he is the best report writer and the 2nd RO has no nuts!
I had all sorts of proof/ evidence of "last tour" management but it means nothing other than a drop down the list...

You dont have to sign off your 1st RO write up if you are not happy with the standard of writing....FACT, of course if you are a biff or your 1st RO cant stand the sight of you then you are buggered anyhow.

Not fact. You can engage the 1RO to re-write it, and you can set the 2RO on him and so on so forth. Ultimately, you can use the 'suicide box' if you really are justified and no-one will help you. But you cannot refuse to have a SJAR.

You can request impartial mediation to review your 1st RO if you think it is badly written. Tell me which JSP quote orders you sign off your SJAR. I never mentioned refusing to have an SJAR, you can delay signing off your bit until you are satisfied with content, if you are a biff or crap in job an SJAR spelt correctally and factual wont help anyway.

FS in 14 Mug? even Tossford can't beat that.

If the new "gods" that are TG4 are picking up their Cpl after three assessments (met one recently and was shocked with the lack of service knowledge), then of course getting your third by ten years is possible - it does after all give you 6 reports as a Cpl by this point.

I'm in the B team, was abit miffed but not too bothered the more I think about it, I'm out of trade now so my chances of my 3rd have all but vanished. I'll just have to accept that I'm getting the snecs pay without the responsibility thanks to the FIA lol.

are you in the real world?

I'm sensing a troll here....
You have (had) 5 days to comment or the RO CAN force it through.

Subject can highlight the poor bits in the comments box (subject suicide).

If the 2nd RO thinks its rubbish and admits as much he can ask the 1st to look over it again. He then has the option to red ring it (will reflect badly on subject-screwed).

2nd/3rd RO Try to big it up with their bits (poor 1st RO will still be in - subject screwed)

Subject raise a complaint (report gets delayed misses board etc)

Live with it and see what happens ( subject drops from being in top 50 for 3 years to just outside the 100!)

So either way you are screwed. All because the 1st RO was deluded and was convinced that this was the best report ever written, was what the board looked for and would see me top the next board!

PS not bitter....LOL

No troll here !!! just quoting from my personal experience, it did take me 17 yrs to get my third, only reason got it was refused to sign off until reviewed and rewritten, it worked for me but i guess there are still di*k heads out there that will point blank refuse to change anything...service complaint defo option when this happens

It still amazes me the amount of people who think they're the dogs danglies. If every individual got the sjar they thought they deserved the prom board would be screwed. As far as I'm concerned unless I've written something factually incorrect you have received the sjar you efforts have warranted so live with it and improve your efforts for next year.None of us like to be told we're not as good as we think we are but accepting it and acting on it is part of growing up and proves you're ready to be in a position to tell other people they're not as good as they think.

But what about those who may have been written up well (in the opinion of their unit)and are good at their jobs but miss out?? The system is peculiar IMHO.

The assessment and promotion system isn't perfect and it never will be. In any system of progression based on competition there are always going to be people who feel aggrieved. Just have to take it on the chin, read through your last SJARs and MPARs to see how you can improve to make yourself as competitive as possible.

Or if that fails you may be asked to sign on to 22years as a SAC very soon :PDT_Xtremez_15:

And remember evidence, more eveidence with added evidence. Because everything an RO writes has to be justified, if you give him sod all don't expect miracles.
