flower pot hall is a retirement home for Cpls love that folk think it's a promotion haven.
No not trolling at all, simply stating that most people who complain about their sjar should read it and take note of what it says or more importantly what it doesn't say. If it says you're good at something why doesn't it say your excellent at it? 10 years of high RECs, have you had career interviews where you sjars have been perused by an admin type bod? If so they should have pointed out why those sjars weren't getting you what you wanted. As has been said this system relies a lot on your 1st ro having a clue about sjar writing. I stand by my previous that my guys get the sjar their efforts deserve and debriefed on where they need to improve what the hell is wrong with that?I really hope you are Trolling with this.
If not, Thank Christ I am leaving an organisation that lets people like you influence other peoples careers.stfu
(FYI, B grade after 22+ years, Nothing less than High Recs in the last 10, Not been told to improve in any way for the last 6 years...... NVM, I'm looking forward to starting my new career!)

Stevienics said:I did the course this year - it's really most informative and in fact you do a dummy board (on my own TG6 coincidentally). It's amazing how easy it is for a report to be discarded as just a boring narrative of a nobody.
As has been said this system relies a lot on your 1st ro having a clue about sjar writing.
The previous mention that an A grade from the pre-board does not do you any good is a bit naive. This is the only way that you are guaranteed that your appraisals will be read - be pre-boarded as an A grade. I am more worried that the pre-boarding process is now done by one person. I would guess if your surname is halfway through the alphabet you're probably disadvantaged... who would fancy reading all those appraisals...
if you're referring to my comment regarding A grades I was on about A grades in performance, not where the pre boarders place you. If the board member sees a line of straight A's then he expects the sun to shine out of your ar$e. If the narrative doesn't match he will immediately think 'over assessed'
Yes I do, and I agree that mpars are important but unfortunately all to often the advice given is ignored and people revert to type, you can lead a horse to water......Surely you should be telling them areas for improvement during their MPAR... now mandatory written record, btw... as if there wasn't enough to do....
Not presented to the board. No surprises at all, I am taking my 23 years experience and getting a decent, rewarding job that will not treat me like a piece of crap.
So Long Folks!

I may have ranted but never at anyone above the rank of FS.
I know for a fact that some people hold the way I reacted after the last promotion board, (Loosing my rag and Going off sick with stress), against me. I am pretty sure I will never be forgiven despite all the work I have done which benefits The Trade / The School and the Royal Air force. I am asking questions at the minute and Others are asking questions on my behalf but to tell you the honest truth, I have had enough of all the Bull**** that comes from the Royal Air Force and cannot wait until I leave. (This is not hyperbole... if they let me have my pension tomorrow I walk away without a seconds hesitation, I have already done more than 22 years in the RAF and I feel I owe it NOTHING!)
I wont be making anymore comments on this as I can feel myself getting wound up typing!
So you slag me off for being a bad 1st RO then come out with a comment like this. It took me 20 years to get my 3rd I went through pretty much most of the emotions you've probably been through but kept at it and for me it worked out. I'm sorry things haven't worked out the way you wanted but throwing baseless accusations at people for your misfortune doesn't do it for me.:raf:
Back OT the folk I know who have came in quota this year have all done at least 2 tours as a cpl. So looking good for experience winning this year. Well done to all that have got it. It's getting harder each year to shine...
I know (personally) 2 peeps who did acting for a considerable amount of time (4-6 months) and they came off 3 and 5.
Quick question, has anyone heard how many have been released immediately? I've heard they are after 25 this year...?
It's a shame for people who dont get an opportunity to act at the next rank due to their job/role/command structure....does it descriminate them?
Isn't it now 18?
