Anyone actually spoken to manning to find out how many slots they're looking to fill???

I too had heard 25... But the rumour on the street seems to be 18 now???
 
I agree that it is a shame. But it's an opportunity that should be taken with both hands and shouldn't be dished out lightly...

agree that you have to grasp the opportunity to show your COC but it shouldn't go against you if you don't get this chance - thus having this evidence available to the board.

I heard 25 to start with, then chopped by 10, so down to 15!

Again, just the rumour mill turning. No hard evidence!

As someone who's come off the board in the top 20 shouldn't you be asking your line manager or chief clerk where/when as opposed to fishing on a rumour site? You'll get a better answer if your Chief Clk isn't a nob.

I mean, this is probably the advice you'll be expected to give to your SAC's ad Cpls next year when you are all grown up with your 3rd stripe.

I heard the last board went well over the PREDICTED number on the reserve list and in all likelihood it will again this year. 10 released immediately...or so a friend of a friend of the sister of my friend Dave from down the pub says...

That's the internet for you; you say one thing (impatience) and I read it as something else (naivety). The barbs in my post weren't supposed to be overtly malicious. boxer

Congrats on your place inside the big 20, maybe you'll get more info than I did for my 3 lads who were all B's this year (and do share your info!). I still heard the PREDICTION was 25 as of Friday last week, but don't know how many initially released to the PSL (from one of my lads who was 30+ this year after being posted).
 
As it is a rumour site I'll share this little snippet I heard. The prediction is in fact just a computer generated number and not a true reflection of the numbers required, it can go up or down.

You'll find that Manning and the UCA or Chief Clerk won't tend to give away any information until the numbers are actually released as to not get hopes up incase stuff changes, which it does.

What number where you last year then? What were your experiences of time frames, etc?
 
Not presented to the board. No surprises at all, I am taking my 23 years experience and getting a decent, rewarding job that will not treat me like a piece of crap.

Spammy after watching your grumbles over the years about not getting picked up, it always interesting that it seems to everyone else's fault, i suspect that the issues you have with progressing will follow you into whatever you do next. It just doesn't ring true that someone who apparently gave so much to the school and the trade has ended up stuck in the B's consistently.

But I will concede that it is entirely possible for great JNCO's to fall through the net, never quite make it or never come close. At which point you have to look at your 1st/2nd RO input. What they are saying, and perhaps more importantly what they are not saying!!

Any SNCO worth their salt should know how to maximise an SJAR, they have to be written a certain way to have an impact. Right or wrong, thats just the way it is. If your RO's can't/won't adapt what they write to give you a fighting chance then your f*cked from the start and they will know it too, so shame on them if it's the case.

I wish you the best in whatever you do next, but you should take an honest look in the mirror, evaluate what did or didn't happen, and on the way out the door perhaps aim an ice cold stare or two at your RO's who may well be a big part of why you never got there in the end, it's easy to tell someone one thing while knowingly killing them on the next board.

If you look back for a couple of years at our trade cpl-sgt and also some of the other large trades (TG1 A tech Av and A tech M, both 700+ cpls) there does seem to be a bit of a pattern for under predicting numbers occuring. Maybe Manning have realised it is better to aim small and go over the prediction rather than aim big and leave people high and dry when they don't get anywhere near the magic number.

It gives some hope to those who placed 25+ this year. But bear in mind it still is a PREDICTION after all. Fingers crossed for those of you waiting for some good news.
 
Well, I'm off too!

Been told i am 38th and as i only have until December left in there is no chance they will get to my number, i've also been told that promotion will not be more than the 25.

This (from what i can gather) is due to the recruitment issues and all the other rubbish meaning there is no way to refill the slots emptied by those moving up the chain.

before anyone says prove i will not be picking up, i can but i won't.

I'm fed up of the constant up down up down of the promotion board and feeling like i have been left behind (well it certainly seems from this promotion board that they have finally realised there are a lot of ex 3's with oodles of experience hanging around while they prove 4 works.) so i'm off to Civvie land, and finally being able to live at home with the wife and kids.

So it's goodbye from me (might still hang around here though) and it's been a good 22.

I'm not sure where the manning levels are at the moment for TG1 Av&M but at one point it was circa 140% (IIRC) at SAC. The problem with our trade and for all our boards is retaining the pyramid structure. Without enough new tradesmen leaving 1RS the desk can't promote to fill all the gaps higher up as it would leave the gaps at the bottom. You can look at the positions register and see there are plenty of gaps.
 
It's all gone quiet! Has anyone heard from a friend of a friend of an acquaintance as to what number they've reached?
