looks like a good cause how much cpu does it use up any one?

*if its been said then ill looks stupid*

It uses whatever your not ! You will not notice it in the background at all.

Do it, you know it makes sense !!!

Crack on...........:PDT_Xtremez_09:

yeah got the prog all running now just wanted to know how much cpu it uses because i do mroe than just browse the web ;)

I certainly don't wish to detract from the original Protein Folding experiment but the BOINC client (Berkley something something) is a similar system which allows you run a number of projects (including SETI, black hole searched, weather mapping and protein analysis) all whilst your CPU is twiddling it's thumbs.

p.s. I'll come join you when the mess here sorts out the wanky shared wireless broadband :(

Right, I've got it installed and running under the E-Goat team. :PDT_Xtremez_28:

The Egoat team is only a few steps away from breaking into the top 1000 so have a read at the start of the thread and get folding

Thanks Hu for spotting that school boy error but the more goaters who join the fray the more chance we have got so get folding

Congratulations.....

Finally joined and CPU is chugging away.....
Right, I've got it installed and running under the E-Goat team. :PDT_Xtremez_28:
Good to see some new folders on here! You won't notice it's there and it's all for a good cause!
p.s. I'll come join you when the mess here sorts out the wanky shared wireless broadband :(
Well, as far as I can tell, once you have the program, you only have to be online to send and recieve the work units. If you're offline for long periods, it will sit and wait for an open connection and send away.

Also, we finally got the certificate. 1,000 work units, but we've slipped 3 places in the leaderboard to 2010.

If you want to join in, navigate to the first page of this thread where all the team details are, download location, and also if you got any questions on the project, most will be answered on the first few pages of this thread or the FAQ on Stanford's site.

Just 'fell' over the folding thread and I've now downloaded and joined. Now folding in the E-goat team. I think that if you re-titled the thread, you may bring the folding idea to more goaters? e.g. 'Use your PC to find medical cures'
