OK we all know that Flt Sgts, Master Aircrew and Warrant Officers smell of P1ss and Biscuits, its a sad fact of life.

Well maybe help is on the horizon - The e-goat folding team donate their computer spare processing capacity to help the geeks and quacks at Stanford University to run a set of calculations in the hope of finding the root of and therefore hopefully the cure for (but more likely better treatment for) diseases such as Altzheimers.

Currently the e-goat team are almost in the worlds top 2000. Help the goat team enter the top 2000 and help the geeks stop old snecs stinking of pishh

I think I have a problem uploading data.....

I think I have a problem uploading data.....

Completed my first WU late last week but when I turn on the old chugger now, whilst it seems to be chuntering thru the current WU I have been given, it appears to be waiting to upload data back to the server and not getting there.

Has anyone else got this problem (?) and how do I fix it if it is ?

All i can suggest is, right click F@H in the taskbar and select Configure.....then connection, then ensure "Use Internet Explorer Connection Settings" is ticked....if thats not it then i'll have a dig around the site.....

Cheers chap - I've done all that and it was working. According to the F@H site it might be cos the servers busy, but it seems to be all the time. I'll let the machine finish the latest WU and then ask the coneheads questions if it still is'nt connecting - cant have all that work stuck on my hard drive - it's needed elsewhere!!

Make sure it is UNTICKED if you have Internet Explorer 7. Some kind of security thang will stop them going if you have IE7 and the box ticked.

There is a hell of a lot of background stats being generated to prove progress and over a million other people conned into joining in if it is.

The F@H runs in the background of my PC, only uploads/downloads at the end of a WU and I haven't noticed any degredation in speed since I started. (Normally only 50% of processor with 40 odd% being System Idle)

You know what Joker - When we first started up the team, I thought the same you..... Spend 10 minutes on Google looking it up and you'll see its legit.

Go on - have a look. As for slowing the machine up - nope....not noticable at all. Anti Virus doesn't have a problem with it all.

Joker, that would be why Sony have been helping develop it's use on the PS3 when your not playing games!

Lets face it, when it comes to number crunching for working out cures for uncurable diseases then I'm game for it. Hardly notice a difference even when you set the counter to use 95% of the CPU.

I found a little stats signature that people can use if they want, hit this in your sig bar (once you change the username) and it'll give the team and indivdual progress. Shame about the colour though...

Personally I still say it is Malware! If it is running processes -even in the background and reporting back to an overseas server! Sounds like a ripe place to pilfer details by an unscroupulous hacker.

I (Personal opinion) believe this type software has no place on my home PC and I do not trust the site to hold details it gets from my PC secure (if it has a wire out of the back - there can be a hack... Bill Gates)DT_Xtremez_32:
