[008:44] - Preparing to get new work unit...
[008:44] + Attempting to get work packet
[008:44] - Connecting to assignment server
[008:46] - Successful: assigned to (0.0.0.0).

Ive got the same issue. The program seems unable to send results or get new work packets. Mine has been like it for a few weeks now. Im guessing its some kind of server issue.

Right, I spend a good while on the Folding forum
http://foldingforum.org/
and now have the answer (well, it worked for me).

v 5.03 does not work on XP.
Make sure you clear out any old version of the 'client' software before installing the latest incarnation (6.23)

I have to express some disappointment at the graphical display; it's not as informative as the previous ones. But it seem to work and I have it on both machines at present.

May I please draw the Goaters' attention to this worthwhile project ?
It costs (almost) nothing.
It's a worth effort
Your kids (or Grandchildren) may well benefit from this basic research.

I've recently discovered a way to get my local Spacies to contribute (not that most of them know a lot about it). I have a spare (slow) computer which I occasionally use at the Squadron. Since it is on all the time, if not connected to the 'Net, it can sit there doing the F@H processing.
Come a squadron night, I simply connect it to the 'Net and let it send the processed thing and get a new one. Now, if all squadrons did something similar, the effect on the Work Units would be significant.

I urge all Goaters to think about this project, and those connected to the Spacies do likewise.

Alternatively, turn your computer off at night and weekends and reduce your carbon footprint.

It still is yes, its just that Mingmong left the RAF last year, grew his hair, attends many many music festivals and lives in a vw camper with his guitar.

Flamin hippie!

What are the ideal settings for the client?

Looking at the stats page, a few guys have chucked in loads of units in recent days.

I've got a Dual Core at 2.0Ghz each and 2GB of RAM, left on most of the time and I'm not getting anywhere near that throughput!

if you leave your computer on all the time (and I do), leave it at "Core Priority - Lowest possible",
unless you are out and want it to get a shift on.
Don't forget the Team Number for the Goat - 54234

Yup, do all that. Computer has been on for the last week and apparently, I have delivered no results in the last 30 days. May go for a re-install and see what happens.

If you'd care to contact me, by PM or e-mail, I'll try and help

Is 'folding' running ? I have mine on the little task bar (bottom right, near the clock).
right click on it
"status"
log file

see what it says.

Hi,

Thanks for the offer of assistance. Went for the full reinstall and actually read all the instructions! Even managed to set-up two modules for each core of the processor.

Have left it a while and now see I am moving up the table.

Cheers.

Do you need Windows 7 or a 64-bit OS to do that ?.
I have a dual-core Athlon on XP, and I'd like to give both cores a work-out.

as i'm in work and don't have long to have a look and read 36 odd pages, will this folding thing carry on offline, if it does i can leave my PS3 on while i am in work and let it fold away merrily, otherwise it will only be on when i am online.

I'll be joining the goat team shortly, i have run a few foldings already but it's about time i joined a team.:PDT_Xtremez_30:

The only reason it requires to be on-line is to take the raw and return the processed files.
I have an old PC at my spacie squadron which grinds away ( well - it does a lot of the time), and gets connected twice a week. It seems to work OK.

So use it and good luck. As long as you let it swap out the files a few times a week, you'll get there OK.
Good Luck

Well, i joined the team, then realises i had my nickname on the PS3 set to PS3 so changed it to sp4rks.

So i currently have sp4rks and PS3 listed on the folding page.

Cheers

Mark

Haven't used it in quite a while. Reinstalled it a few minutes ago and it is happily crunching away :PDT_Xtremez_14:
