One thing you might be able to shed light on, please. I've lost the little flower thingy on my task bar, but I know the beast is working.
Any ideas, please?

Ctrl + Alt + Del and look at the running processes. If you got FAH****** running along with a percentage of CPU being used, don't worry about it. Let it fold on!

I installed the command line one as a service, so it does nothing but number crunch, no icons, no nothing. Does the trick nicely!

Tashy,
Please don't confuse EX_Bay with Ex-Bay. The former was when I set up my second machine without realising how easy it was to join the two sets of results.
Ex-Bay is running two machines full time and is clocking up the points. When last seen it was 89 WU.

Hi Ex-Bay,

It's not a problem was just trying to get a few more folding again.....I remember you having the set up probs.

As for the taskbar Icon....hmm, don't really know. Did you install it as administrator but use a different profile, if so it woill only show under the profile you installed it on (you can change the settings for it - go to Start/Programs/F@H/ then right click on F@H exe file, select properties then security.....It's a long shot, perhaps Mono will know ?

Fold on................:PDT_Xtremez_09:

edit....mono replied while i was typing ......no matter

Almost in top 1400

Almost in top 1400

Hi all,

I've just been checking the latest stats on the E-Goats Folding Team and we're doing ace!

Here's the latest:

Grand Score 841128
Work Unit Count 3864
Team Ranking (incl. aggregate) 1409 of 137690

Almost into the top 1400 in the world!

For those out there who haven't heard of it and don't know what it's all about check page 1 of this thread for all the gen.
Then get it downloaded and get folding like the rest of us!

In the words of Tashy Man

Fold on......:PDT_Xtremez_28:

I would like to know how the rankings are worked out, I am at 16 and others also have higher amounts of work units yet are lower down the rankings than some who have a lot less.
added we are now at 1394

Pat on the back all round methinks!

Many of the work units are different sizes so it could be that if you do one large work unit you would have done more "work" and earned more points than someone who's done dozens and hence you will be higher up the "League" table

Hope that makes sense

I think we need a few more CPUs on the job. Only 23 this morning. Come on chaps & Chapesses, try and give it a go.

Ye Gods, Tashy, at this rate I'm going to need a fast new PC just for F@H.

Thats the point though.....you don't need a new PC......almost ANY old PC will do......just leave it chugging away in the background and you'll probably never know it's there.

However if you need a good excuse to get a brand new spanking machine......well :-)

I've just about stopped doing the folding thing now. Mrs has got me on an economy drive and the spare PC I had running this constantly in the spare room is now shut down. I leave it running on my main machine, but that's now switched off when we're out and at night.

Economy drive ? So the little amount of electricity you save overnight and when you are out is gonna save the planet ? Overall you will have to replace the components in your PC sooner as they operate better if left on and will have a reduced life if constantly switched on and off, therefore filling up landfill sites................you need to put up a better argument to the missus.....or just tell her as she is a woman she obviously knows nothing and should get back in the kitchen.

Crack on...................:PDT_Xtremez_09:

A small PC running one programme, with nothing else on (monitor, etc.) consumes about 250mA. Hardly profligate, is it? And it is for a good cause.
Do please have another chat with her.

Is there a version which will work under an 'old' OS ? (Win 3.11, ME, 98, etc)
I've got an old DOS machine which might take WinME that I might be able to use.
