Those who actually know me, and know exactly what a luddite I am with anything pooter based, have a big cup of shut the fcuk up now ::P:

I have downloaded and installed and it is running and working

Ohhhh I'm gonna start singing and dancing again cos I did it i did it oh yes I did it :PDT_Xtremez_30:

I think mines humming along...I think it's doing a 5000 frame jobby?!

It only seems to be using 28% of my CPU capacity at any one time...How do I up the anti a bit?

Right click on your fold symbol, then click on configure, then click on advanced. There's a slider at the top called CPU usage percentage, move that all the way to the right to 100%. The sllider underneath called Checkpointing Frequency, move that all the way to the left, as that ensures it save all your folding every 3 minutes, so you hardly loose anything when you turn your PC off.

I've been having probs with my computer and after a lockup upon restart the damn thing is restarting at 0.....3 times it's happened now....grrrrrrr

Oh well....Fold on.............:PDT_Xtremez_09:

Mines doing a 5000 WU, expected to finish on tuesday 17/04, hope the next one isn't as big

done 4 now, and they've all been that size!

(the no nonsense one says 5,000,000 steps as opposed to the frames the graphic one says)

:PDT_Xtremez_35: what???? speak English boy :PDT_Xtremez_08:

Ok, there are 2 versions of the same program, one which is nice and graphical which displays it's progress in frames. However, the version I have running is the "no nonsense" one. This doesn't draw any pretty pictures, but instead ticks over good and proper as my graphics on here is a bit old and knackered. This marks it's progress in steps as opposed to frames in the graphical version.

All the units I've managed to complete have been 5,000,000 steps. Which I believe roughly equates to the 5,000 frames that you're processor is currently churning away on.

So in a very confusing answer to your question.... Yeah, they are all about that size! :PDT_Xtremez_28:

Thought I would bring this thread back up for new peoples attention...I'm an absolute computer biff...honestly it's all I can do to successfully sign onto the Goat without injuring myself and I've managed to do a bit towards it...We have a Goat folding team and we are currently shooting up the rankings but if more did it we would shoot a bit faster (oh er missus!)...

Read post #1, sign up for team '54234' which is us and as TM would say 'crack on'...

(Also it has not affected the runnings of my pc in anyway)

My first unit is sat at 18600/20000, it should be finished Friday night ! hopefully :PDT_Xtremez_42:

Spot on Vim, it's helping scientists find cures for at the moment incurable diseases.

And E-goat as a team are doing well!!!!

What a rip off ! for a couple of weeks now I have left this thing running while I'm at home. My first unit finished I proudly submit my contribution to our team effort and it doesn't show up in either our stats or my own. I feel used :PDT_Xtremez_41:
Someone please tell me it will show it just takes time.
Started another unit this morning !

They update their stats once a day, so be patient my welsh friend....

Feeling better now ! :PDT_Xtremez_14:

Once again I am a well balanced, useful member of society :PDT_Xtremez_31:

I recommend FoldingFromTray. It's free and easy to use. Download it from here and then just drop it into your Folding@Home folder. When you run it, it opens a window with progress info and easy access to the log file. You can download a small piccy of your protein if you want too.

I can't make it work, the "services" list is empty!?!
