Following the EUFA cup final in Manchester and the problems caused by a few the council have decided not to show the Chumpions league final on the big screen in the city. Seems the actions of a minority of idiots have an effect on the majority of sensible football fans.

What chance of a good natured atmosphere in Moscow this week??

About the same chance as there being a good natured atmosphere at a Rangers-Celtic game I would wager.

As ever in life, a small minority of idiots spoil things for the masses...

I'd like to think there won't be trouble but you never know....and I don't think the russian federales will be taking prisoners.

Agreed they won't mess about and they probably haven't even read the human right's convention but are quite good at CS gas and truncheons. Major finals have been sombre and tragic in recent years for british clubs. I just hope Moscow doesn't become another stat in a sorry tale of woe for fans.

Downs, you are in denial. A "small minority"! I have watched the antics on the news concerning the Rangers fans and the small minority as you put it seems to be the biggest "small minority" I have ever seen. They were a disgrace.
Hope this post meets your strict guidlines. i.e. if your opinion differ from me, the mod, I will remove your posts!

Yeah, it was one of the scariest matches I've ever been to! I'm not even a Gers or Celtic fan! :PDT_Xtremez_09:

I guess it's all a matter of perception, I'd say passionate:PDT_Xtremez_31:

I don't think the russkie government will be encourage restraint given the tensions between our countries either. Lets hope the footy prevails.

I don't call stanley blades and broken glass passionate. I've been to other derby games and they pale in comparison to a Gers-Celtic game.

Just got a message saying it had 'kicked-off' earlier in Carlisle. Some 'passionate Rangers fans' are involved.

Dude there was 100,000plus fans present in Manchester yesterday...it was a small minority out of over 100,000 people..probably less than .1%...but that doesn't make a good story..

Those pargons of virtue and tolerance the Leeds fans are in Carlisle tonight for the play offs.

The rioting wasn't the only issue in manchester.
The amount of waste which was dumped in the streets was criminal.
It was over a foot deep in Picc gardens when I passed through this morning.
A few weeks ago, someone dropping a cigarette end would have got a fixed penalty. Last night, dozens of tons of literal crap was deposited on the streets of our city, right outside our doors.
The city stunk of urine this morning. Rangers urine.
No wonder the big screen failed in Picc gardens............
Its probably drowned in p!ss.

Local businesses lost millions because of a footy match. A footy match that wasn't in the city centre, and the fans should not have been there.
Shops, restaurants, cafes, were empty, because most decent people would not go near the city centre. The only people who made money, were the ones selling booze. Tesco were selling two cases of stella for £15. They had it stacked outside the store..................

My wife and I run our own business, and lost over £600 of orders that we could not deliver into the city centre.

Local people had cars wrecked. Windows smashed, and were terrified in their own homes.

Do we want major football tournaments in Manchester from outside teams???

NO, WE FOOKIN DO NOT!!!

I am speaking the simple truth of a local resident.
It is our city. It is our home, not Glasgows.

A member of our staff had her 3 month old car turned upside down.
...........2 miles outside the city centre, by rangers fans.
Don't believe to stories of 200 trouble causers.

I live there, I work there, I run a business there. I know the truth, NOT what is reported on the news.

We had a 9 a.m. funeral this morning...............which was disrupted by still drunken rangers fans.

Bloody disgusting.

Mods may delete this posting, but if they do, they are merely deleting the truth.

There were a lot of good rangers fans in manchester last night. I have heard a lot of stories about good behaviour.

We just don't need these matches from outside teams disrupting our lives.

Man U and city, yes.
Outside teams no.

And before anyone says it, Man U should not be playing in Russia for their final either.

Rant mode off..............:PDT_Xtremez_30:

I totally agree with you, however, in the eyes of some it was only a minority....Perhaps they will now listen to an informed voice (you) and realise it is they who are talking crap and should have their posts removed.
Downs, try telling Grumps it was only a minority..if you can justify.

1% of 100,000 is 1,000 p1ssed up troublemakers. That is the size of a large regiment and capable of causing a lot of damage. Shame the other 99,000 are tarred withe same brush, but sadly inevitable.

Spot on, GEM.

Try to stay on topic mememe, this is still the footie club, not fight club. That's twice in one thread you've looked to turn this into a personnel fight. Inflammatory posts aimed at other members will not be tolerated.

Just for the record, I normally finish work at about 6pm, ish.
It's now turned 10pm, and there are still three of us here number crunching, as we have to submit a claim to the insurance company for loss of business, and for delays on contract work, which we could yet get sue'd for. The insurance premium will surely go up as a consequence.

It looks like we are about £4k down, for just one day, and still rising.
We are a small company with 8 staff.

Who know's what the numbers are like for larger company's.

I'm going home for a few Stellas....................
At least I will sleep tonight.
