Common sense and decency prevails over nimbyism - well done to the organisers of the campaign.

Yes I am still dancing, like really dancing

but

Does anyone else feel a bit weird that we're needing a place such as this because of the high numbers of wounded we're getting, and especially as the point which was made about further high numbers are expected is sadly too true.

It's a big yay for the victory but also a hollow ooooooo because of the cause :S

I dekitted today and felt a tinge of sadness at passing out of active military service but feel immensely proud of the wider military community of which in my heart I shall always belong for coming together for this 'op' and also to those in the civilian community who supported this cause.

Well done everyone.:PDT_Xtremez_14:

I would like to think they were shamed into this by the overwhelming victory those in Ashtead scored in w@nker of the week a fortnight ago:PDT_Xtremez_19: Probably not but an all to rare victory for decency and common sense , worth celebrating anyway:PDT_Xtremez_31:

Absolutely fantastic. A great endeavour by all those who really cared. The service is not just for a few years - it's for life, and this proves it.

I'm really proud and glad that I did my bit.

Well done to everybody. Now perhaps the MoD will reconsider the suggestion of re-opening or rebuilding their military hospitals again!!

Bl00dy fantastic news!! I was at work when I heard the news and not ashamed to say I cheered outloud!! Good to see the system working for us for a change!!

What a result. Just managed to see ten minutes of the meeting on webcam. I only saw one council member not voting for the application, however his ward did include Grays lane. I am just glad that sense prevaild in the end, and the application was accepted. It is sad, reflecting back on all this, that this should never had gone to this stage in the first place. The people who made these objections have really dug themselves a bit of a large hole. I don't think they will be able to crawl back out from this one. The Nimby's lost. Good show and well done again to Blue team and to everyone who slogged there guts out, to get this result. WELL DONE.:PDT_Xtremez_30: :PDT_Xtremez_30:

On the subject of an appeal by the objectors, my understanding is that they cannot appeal.

Just be a very good piece on BBC news covering the story with an underlying question, 'what sort of nation are we to deny families of wounded servicemen such a facility'.
It ended with the reporter stating that in Dorking they had answered that question 17 to nil.
Thank the lord.
I'll bet a council planning meeting never had so many viewers to its webcast.

Had to pop out but saw the news on the BBC site, looks like the residents got their come uppance, 17-0 woo hoo.

I love the smell of burnt objection letters in the evening, smells like victory.:PDT_Xtremez_30:

At times like this it makes me so proud to have been part of the military.

We may have our differences between the various services but as recent history has shown on operations and this case shows to a huge degree, when the chips are down we pull together.

Many thanks also to the thousands of civilians who have lent their support to this cause, a cause that struck deep at what we as a nation find important, the care of those who are willing to pay the ultimate sacrifice for their country or petty NIMBYism.

I'll bet a council planning meeting never had so many viewers to its webcast.

GGGrrrrrr....been trying to get this working all damn night...and now i finally have......went to watch the archived bit and they are still going on live...oh well will try again later...

Cracking result .........:PDT_Xtremez_09:

no doubt madmo will be along shortly with the facts but I'm almost certain they can have no griunds for appeal considering they made no objection to the application.

The residents do have a right to appeal Mole Valleys decision. Mole valley are obliged to hear appeal representations. However considering the 17-0 vote, Its highly unlikely Mole Valley will change the orginal decision.

The residents can then take their fight to the Royal Courts of Justice. However this means extreamley expensive legal counsel bills and I doubt for a second these fcuking rich stuck up to$$pots will want to dig in their pockets to be paying QC's by the hour.

And how bizzare, The BBC tried to interview the objectors after the decision, but nobody was available for comment. W@ANKERS!!!
