Can you imagine the uproar in the press if a bus driver had to sleep on a camp bed? :PDT_Xtremez_42:

Great point.

I bet the politicians and vip's won't be living on a camp bed in some cramped s***hole. Leading by example what not...

... I recently read Erwin Rommel ate the same food as his men and did not indulge in privileges during hard times and lead from the front. He even said all prisoners of war should be well looked after. Rommel wasn't a "yes man", he had far too much respect for his men to obey poor commands from the lunatics running the show. As a result he was legendary (on both sides) and his men would follow him to the end of the world, the definition of good leadership. Maybe our management could learn a thing or two from him.

You mean, like, take poison ?

Makes you wonder how many they were short, they said they need 10k expect to supply 7k but have called up nearly 5k troops of one flavour or another as that's a total of 12k bums on seats.

Then if you take into account the 72 hour weeks the lads are doing you must be getting on close for around 8k Full time G4S guards so 15k in total.

I notice the hours the lads are working hasn't reached the press yet, I've seen it mentioned a few times on face tube.

Don't worry incase you had not realised Max is a little bitter lately :-)

Nope, I joined up to serve my country not to fill in for political nonsense like this so that some muppets at the "top" could go on about what a good job they'd done. Also fed up with you barrier operatives who are surely ideally trained to fill this security shortage.

Went to the Tech Rehearsal for Olympic opening show, dogs b****KS they do things Fred Dibnah couldn't. Friday will knock the worlds socks off. Army lads doing security checks very professional, Said to a para cpl "you guys look happier than the Daily Papers or ARRSE tell us." " Ay we could be crawling round wet friggin Scotland." So well done volunteers and pressed men.

Heard back from some of my workmates on the hours that their working, think its an absolute joke. Their spending at least a several hours in transit you thought they would have moved them closer to the venues than where they are now. Also by my calculations their only getting 5-6 hours sleep per day, what happens if they start lapsing in security because they are sleep deprived.

I wouldnt be suprised if their making them wear nappies so they cant take toilet breaks.

Saw on the news another 1200 squaddies are heading to the games ..

Given the briefings of big clumps of student bods very late today here at the secret West Midlands training base some of those squaddies may well turn out to be airmen. From rumour it seems they will take students from the early bits of certain courses and the staff from the middle bits of courses. Which could lead to the instructors at the beginning having no studes to teach and the studes in the middle having no instructors to deliver content, awesome planning. Could be utter tosh so we shall see what new rumour tomorrow brings.

I'll see that rumour and raise you a phone call taken today that reverses that statement....:PDT_Xtremez_42:

It seems to be a matter of, "These games WILL work" no matter what the cost.
At least there will be 18,000 people there! :PDT_Xtremez_42:

I'm surprised that our 'Honourable' members of Parliament, who have just started their well-earned recess/extended summer holidays.....haven't offered their services to assist in security at the Olympics?

I wonder what percentage of the 'honourables' have tickets for the men's 100 metres final?.....As well as other juicy 'high in demand' events?

I was stood in that brief, fortunately my course number wasn't read out as I'm on one of the most senior av courses. :PDT_Xtremez_42:

Feel sorry for my mates on the courses behind me who are getting shafted if they go down. Another few weeks at this magical place.

Saw on the news another 1200 squaddies are heading to the games in addition to the 3500 plus..

I look at this mess and shake my head thinking "How many unemployed are they? And G4S still say they can't find enough people".

I accept not every applicant will be suitable. But they must be a fair few unemployed to choose from.

But not many that actually want to work for just a few short weeks.
