But not many that actually want to work for just a few short weeks.
Army lads doing security checks very professional, Said to a para cpl "you guys look happier than the Daily Papers or ARRSE tell us." " Ay we could be crawling round wet friggin Scotland." So well done volunteers and pressed men.

Then if you take into account the 72 hour weeks the lads are doing you must be getting on close for around 8k Full time G4S guards so 15k in total.
I notice the hours the lads are working hasn't reached the press yet, I've seen it mentioned a few times on face tube.
It seems to be a matter of, "These games WILL work" no matter what the cost.
At least there will be 18,000 people there! DT_Xtremez_42:
72 hour weeks? Pah! Luxury, I dream of 72 hour weeks!:: .....but at least I'm getting paid for the extra hours, I hope that they find some way of renumerating all of the troops shafted for this.
For what its worth, I sympathise with you. I've had notice and been able to plan my life accordingly with an early holidays etc, though the childcare has been a bit of a problem. I can't begin to imagine the grief a short notice deployment causes.
Its a credit to all those on site that they remain positive and professional, though who'd expect anything less?

It goes without saying that all the guys/gals will carry out their duties professionally even after being shafted for cancelled holidays/downtime with family etc. Hats off to you all, Joe public should be mightily proud of our Armed Forces personnel.
BFBS news tonight reported that squaddies leaving Germany at 2am this morning were only told they were going around 10pm the night before.
