I hear a whisper on the grape vine that the OOA turn around time for servicable FOMs is currently at something around 18-20 months.

Sandbox anyone?

surely its not as quick as that? we're are one of the slowest turn arounds of any trade!!
Its always been the case that theres rumour of increasing our OOA's, new air-base here, new one there!, but nothing has ever come of it. certainly i never did an OOA as an SAC! I've done 2 as a Cpl, but i volunteered for the second one.
Wow! if thats true, i can see a lot of the 'home RAF'(people that get postings close to their home town cos they cant bear to leave) PVR'ing, which will leave us even shorter!

I am due OOA next year, third one to ME. Perhaps its the time that FS start picking up our slots and not grabbing the cushy ones !. One awaits the incoming ! (Chaka no need for civvies to comment - strictly military views)

...well with the glory of the rank...hehehe:PDT_Xtremez_06:

to be honest its always been the same for sgt's in our trade, they seem to pick up the strain for our large 'glass back brigade'... as has been said, maybe its time for the flt sgt's to take the slots.....

(at times i'm glad i appear to be a journeyman corporal:PDT_Xtremez_30: )

Far too many; lazy / fat / skiving / scared (delete as applicable) knobs in the trade.

By my calculations if the whole rank were fit for OOA's we would get them every 3.2 Yrs not every 18 months as is the case.

There will always be genuine cases on medical / compassionate grounds for people not to go OOA, however, the numbers just don't stack up at the moment. I heard 48% non deployable this morning - sounds a bit high but it would make sense of the turnaround times - personally, back from the desert last Feb back out in Aug/Sep ( but as least there is a pool at this one!)

SSH - Speaking to Scribbly central recently and Cpls OOA turnaround is now 3 and a half yrs and dropping fast, SAC's four to five but also falling fast.

I don't mind going away at all (even if the missus does), after all I signed on the dotted line; but if the figures you quoting are true (and I'm not doubting it one bit), then maybe something should be done with the owners of the Fabloned Biff Chits. Maybe even get a Flugal Meister or two pick up a few more dets to help ease the burden.

In our trade at the acting level people are on 11 month turnarounds now, the females are on 9 months. There is now talk of bringing the subbies with their 2 year or more turnaround to back fill acting slots so we can get a bit longer back home. All Fablon Biff Chits should lose their X Factor pay for a start I think!

Moan, moan, moan, moan!

Ooooh, my back! Argh, it's gone! Matron!!!!

IRT Medical personell esp nurses 8 month turn around thats not good:PDT_Xtremez_17:

I've heard recently of a Cpl who was the owner of a fabloned biff chit, sudenly got upgraded long enough to do IMLC and TMT2, then lo and behold, downgraded again and the owner of a new biff chit to be fabloned.

This should not be happening.

Obviously you cannot name him...... but how about a game of Give Us A Clue?

I would like to state that 'in MY opinion' most (read 95%) of our supposedly finest SNCO ranks are workshy and like me (workshy if i can get away with it) counting the days till something better comes along.

If downgraded you should not be selected for promotion full stop (i know it happens as well). If and when they get "upgraded" there should be a minimum period (say 6 months) before any promotion award is given. However once "upgraded" an OOA should be given within the first 2 months to test suitability !!

Crack on...............:PDT_Xtremez_09:

Edit.......sorry for posting on an ops thread....just seemed like a general thing to me.....sorry again

Good idea that Tashy... Wonder how many would turn it down?

Hmmmm, just a rough estimate but i reckon about 80%....most glassback happy to take their pension and leave........would be worth it though to get 20% dedicated personnel.

Sorry again for posting on ops thread...last one....PM if you wanna chat further on my "views" !!

I know one who has been OOA every year for the past three, she is less than impressed. She is hoping to get her third, mainly as it means she wont be get jiffed for being there just in case she has to search a female local.
