Pay Rise

Just spoke to a geezer recently back from somewhere hot, but rained over Christmas, and the guys and girls had a visit from the CinC (somebody high up apparently) who told them this years pay rise is going to be 13% (yes thirteen percent). Any gen out there?

Same old story

Same old story

Every year they come out with the same old c**p. Just finished going through the report. If you look closely you see that they are telling us our wonderful highly trained officers are undermanned!! Especially aircrew, so what do they do ? Increase the retention for senior pilots!!! AN extra £50,000 on top of the already £50,000 when theve done their time. This is where YOUR pay rise is going!!! Or lack of!!

Pay rise

Pay rise

It's reported that its an average of 3.3% (9% over the year) but its in relation to inflation and im sure it want make much of a difference considering this, especially if you take into account the fact the the government have broken several ''harmony contracts''?? so I have been told by people that are serving.

Lets just clear something up right now

The lowest rank (less than 10% of all servic e personnel) - that means the most junior members of the Armed Forces the new entrants - are getting a rise of over 9% - but only because otherwise due to the hours they work a lot of them would otherwise be on less than the minimum wage and then the government would be breaking its own laws.

Every one else is getting 3.3% full stop - except the super ranks who will only get 2%

There are other incentives for other specialists (whether I or you or anyone else likes it or not) but if you are Journo scum you should already know that. So go and spend £18 and take a look at the report yourself

Ah 3.3% isnt so bad. As i've said, my wife spent 4 years at Uni to become a nurse (thats even more time than you JT people... blah, blah). Shes on just shy of 25K as a deputy ward sister. Thats in charge of 8 nurses, 15 health care assistants, a foul mouthed ex para ward clark with one leg and 33 patients. She gets 1.9% average raise. Actually she gets 1.5% now, another 1% in Oct. Averages at 1.9%. Thats with the inflation (price linked, not the random dodgy figure the Gov't comes up with) at 4.2%. Her Union is reporting it as a pay cut. So bollox to putting fires out guys, get your nurses outfits ready, because the nurses are P!SSED.

And rightfully so! If they do finally say "enough is enough" and strike, I will support them 100% in whatever way I can.:PDT_Xtremez_09:

3.3%???

3.3%???

believe it when i see it... dont trust this lot as far as i can comfortably spit them

Pay Rise

The Government benefit in many ways from announcing the pay rise of all the public sector together. One of them being members of the armed forces will be relieved they are not in the same position as Nurses etc. We all deserve a better deal! Apart from GP's, they got what they deserved in my view.

And what if it's your mother who's left in intensive care without any nurses? A strike would be a dangerous thing but I can sympathise with their cause.

You not been in the real world long have you?
The AFPRB even commented that high rankers are not getting as much as civvie counterparts.
Yes there are too many of them, and I don't realy know what they do, but if I had worked my way up there I would want the money too. After all how would I get Tristen and felicity through 16 yrs of boarding schools. They can go from age 2 can't they.

Well you are right ive been in an imaginary world for 16 years

i was looking at pay scales tonight and comparing this years and last years pay details , have a look for yourself at top ranking dudes

I maybe wrong with the ranks but im close as we all had discussion about it at work !!!

If im wrong ill easily take back that comments :PDT_Xtremez_15:

but i still think in my own opinion that a fairer system should be in place to give the guys on the ground a better deal of the 285 million than the guys who are in nice cosy offices doing something that most of us have no idea !!!

Looks like the problem is being noticed as the Royal Marines are getting offered a retention bonus as are the Infantry.Still not enough and as for the nurses I'd expect them to do more of a work to rule ie. no overtime etc. but then they suffer that way as well.

Best thing is to get the official petition as widely known about as possible as look at the coverage the road charges one got with enough sig's. Not that I think they would listen but it might wake them up a bit.

Nurses will never strike, they are too well trained and responsible to do so. They never have, never will. Not like their overpaid, under skilled communist rivals the fire service. It'll only get worse for NHS next year when the 'cash bonanza' ends, and incopetant managers can no longer cover cock ups with cash.

As for us... well we've got the best deal of the lot really, esp when you consider what qualifications most of us actually have. Just make sure theirs a different Gov't soonest.

I think everyone's savvy enough to know that the extreme above would not happen but a well targeted strike can achieve the same end and at least demonstrate to this soulless government that they should treat (and properly remunerate) their NHS staff in a decent way.

Nurse strike...nah

Nurse strike...nah

They won't strike. End of. Their Unions decided this ages ago. The only threats they can carry out are refusals to do extra shifts/compulsory overtime. Its not like the firemen. Their strike was a gamble taken that no major fires would occur, and if they did the guys would have got their kit on. Nursing is very very different. You leave people, even just for a day, and loads WILL die. Even the most disgruntled nurse (apart from Beverly Alit...) would not wish that to happen.

That sort of stuff is what I meant, maybe it would be enough to put the breeze up the 'management'etc.

Sweeping statements. Not correct, just sweeping.:PDT_Xtremez_06:
