Pay Rise

Just spoke to a geezer recently back from somewhere hot, but rained over Christmas, and the guys and girls had a visit from the CinC (somebody high up apparently) who told them this years pay rise is going to be 13% (yes thirteen percent). Any gen out there?

Did we expect anything else? 9.2 for groms isn't too bad.

The 2% for Senile ^H^H^H^H^H^H Senior Officers sounds like a nod to the workers. However, 2% for Gp Capt etc is about £20,000 a day or something.:PDT_Xtremez_21:

Sky news is reporting "Big pay rise for forces" seems the AFPRB have bought the media with a 9.2% rise for only 1% of the armed forces.:PDT_Xtremez_25:

Where is this 9% coming from that Sky are going on about. I've just had my slide-rule out & it looks like 3.26% to me?

Pay more for same s**t accommodation and at first glance it looks like they've just upped our pay by one level effectively::/:

They can fight their own battles.

I never said that they couldn't.
They and many other public sector workers are set to get between 1.4% and 3%. They of course have the option to go on strike whereas your only option, if you don't like it, is to leave. Whilst I don't agree that a front line soldier being shot at by the Taliban should be getting less than a Nurse or civil servant, the pay rise is better than theirs.
What would you suggest is a sensible pay rise for the Armed Forces.

well I guess we were kidding ourselves. It's PVR time folks. Des Brown quoted saying that this pay rise reflects the gratitude the goverment have for our Armed Forces. Gratitude! What gratitude. 9.3% for new entrants. I wonder why they are doing that. Any guesses. Anyway 3.3% increase, with accomodation and food up to 2.7%. I let you work the math out on that one. This is utter blolocks.Someone mentioned on this thread, that If a a fair pay rise was not acheived, the PVR flag will be waved even higher. I think we will see the results of this farce, in the not too distant future.:PDT_Xtremez_25:

Can you tell me a time, besides the massive pay rise in the 1970's, when food and accommodation charges haven't gone up significantly close to the pay rise.
It is your choice whether or not to PVR, but will you go through with it?

If you PVR you are going to have to pay for your food and accom anyway - so why don't you stay in, buy your own house, live in it, pay for your own food and then guess what?

You will have a 3.3% pay rise.

Easy.......... :PDT_Xtremez_19:
