Redundancies

Will the factors ever by given out , ie Q's, time of service and the weightings to each of these. Or will this be like TG1 manning levels...

If you phone the trade sponsors, they will tell you what Qs or if your current post carries any weight. I know the courses that i've carried out for my new job since i left Kinloiss carry no weight what so ever after phoning the trade sponsors and my Nimrod Qs certainly don't carry any weight. Wrong place, wrong time, C'est la vie.

What has the post that you are currently in got to do with it?

If someone has years of experience on a platform that doesn't exist anymore and someone has tons of experience on a more modern platform that is the pride and joy of the airforce, the ressettlement board's decision will be leaning towards keeping the latter person.

Is there a release time for the info on the 1st? Are the notices embargoed till a certain time or will info start to trickle as soon as the head sheds are in.....

Trade requirements aimed at achieving structural balance form a very small part of the RSB criteria and, independent of other considerations, is unlikely to have made much difference to the redundancy list, e.g., in 2005 more than a few newly-converted Typhoon techies were made redundant. I remember OC XI being apopleptic (my word of the day!) at the thought that the 'cream of the Air Force' (his words at the time) would even apply for redundancy but there were even a few non-applicants among those who went. We have such little control over the post we happen to be filling that to determine redundancies in that manner would simply not be appropriate.

Trade and aircraft requirements are only part of it. MRa4 GE's were allowed to apply for redundancy. MR2 GE's were'nt as they were already qualified in all trades and could do reds/greens.....
The fact they've got no aircraft to work on and are all being posted to places they don't want to go to doesn't matter!

There's going to be alot of grief on thursday, those who applied and were turned down and those who are being booted out after a committee meeting. Good luck one all for whatever you want

This sums it up for me!

Senior Officers (much higher than him) seem to have no idea what is going on at grass root level. Not sure they care anyway - there is always someone to replace you.......

I understand your perspective on the redundancy process, but i still believe even though trade requirements form a very small part of the RSB criteria, it's still a part none the less. Although, and I agree it would be inappropriate to select someone for redundancy based partly on trade requirements, it doesn't necessarily mean this wont happen under the guise of some other "chosen reason".

No release time was sent out from the RFP, we just require it to be done as early as possible on the 1st

Might be the first time this year i'll be in at 8am on the button.

Proabbly sit around waiting for the boss to turn up with the good/bad news then.

Was told by the floppy sausage today everyone is to be in Thursday morning (we're working across the two southern secret AT bases at the moment) and that the Sengess will be dispensing any envelopes that need to be dished out, though (apparantly) they know no names at present.

Come on Thursday!

My Wing Co told me i'd be told at 9am tomorrow. So no need to get up early and be in for 8. I'll stroll in at 8.30 like i usually do and have a brew while i wait..... might even take up smoking in the morning!:PDT_Xtremez_42:

There was only one fully qualified MRA4 GE, but as I remember hadn't had his Reds and Greens signed of for the MRA4. The MR2 decision was quite wierd as even though you have Red and Greens they do not transfer to a different type.

Well as it's getting close I'd just like to say good luck to everyone tomorrow, and if you find you're out when you don't want to be then don't panic - your skills are transferable :PDT_Xtremez_30:

Best of British everyone.

Apparently those just about to go OOA are exempt. What is the time limit on just about to go OOA? Not interested myself, asking for someone else. And no I haven't read the DIN because I'm not eligible
