Redundancies

Well I've heard nothing either way, no letter at home, no phone call from work. Looking a lot like no redundancy for me! Sadly chief clerk, flt cdr and OC PSF all not answering phones. So not easy to confirm just yet...

the general rule here, is that the doors opened at 9am, and peeps were to be told by 10, or as soon as possible, so if you do not know by now, chances are!

Maybe they've had a conversation with Harry Staish and have now fcuked off to the pub:0.

As mentioned previously in this thread - exemption seems to be for those on Ops that attract Op Allowance (ie aircrew who fly into Libyan airspace / personnel afloat within Libyan territorial waters) - those in support roles are fair game, although I am not sure if the 6/12 month clocks start immediately or upon their return to the UK (pretty sure it is the latter but too lazy to re-read the DIN to confirm)
There is one sentence buried in the DIN which states that personnel deployed to "theatres in conflict" not covered by OpAl would be considered for exemption on a case-by-case basis. Looking at the results at the secret ISTAR hub, it appears that Op ELLAMY people have been spared, although that could be by either accident or design.

Has any political party at any point inferred that the size of the armed forces may grow again if we ever come out of recession, or are we only allowed to get smaller?

It has been implied by Liam Fox more than once that we are being cut now so that we can grow again in the second half of the decade. I'll believe it when it happens. Actually, there are lots of snippets here and there which suggest we have to grow, not least of which is that NATO may formally restructure in the wake of ELLAMY/UNIFIED PROTECTOR from a 'Defence Alliance' to more of a talking shop. If that is to happen, we may very well see the dissolution of the Washington Treaty including the all important Article V. And then China will become a credible threat and the wheel will turn again...!

It's a talking shop already. Article V was more of a position than a rule, and directed only at a single ideology. Assymetrical threats and dealing with them is always going to be a political peeing up the wall competition from here on in, with the coalition of righteousness being the way ahead.
