Redundancies

Just like to say:

Good luck to everyone this morning, whether you want to stay or go, I hope you get what you want.

Rumour today at the mighty Albert Airways is there will be alot of suprised people, and not in a good way.

Only hrs to go, aint it exciting!

Oh there's several more hours to fit some good rumours in before the news comes out.

Actually - even once the news is released that shouldn't stop a few of the rumours.

Well, it's the 1st September by my watch, so where's my letter telling me if I have a future or not?

Good luck to all today and I hope people get what they want out of this. Apparently 60% of he redundancies in my trade/rank are going to be compulsory, feel it would've been me if I wasn't sitting somewhere sandy at the moment.

So after waiting for 6 months I have to wait for the same time as the UK why?? It's not the same as a Base closure so just get on with it.

No fear of Tranche 2 if I make through the first round though as if compulsory in that I will make it past the 18 year point.

Great!! Just come into work in my wonderful tri-service organisation to be asked by my AD(Naval Senior Officer) if I know what is going on today. He didn't even know we had people in the frame for the chop and is obviously not prepared for what could be an unpleasant day for some of his troops. So much for the "we've got it all squared away"; just have to wait and see if i get the magic interview, best of luck to all you other goaters out there.

Just been passed a note saying my presence is required in a room up stairs in 20 mins. Fortunately as I work in London, I can find a pub that opens in an hours time for a celebratory pint.

The BBC says...

"In the RAF there were 620 applications for redundancy, said our correspondent, 440 of them have been approved. That means most redundancies - 490 - will be compulsory"

So it looks like 2/3 of applicants will be in the "Hurrah I got it", and 1/3 in the "Boo, they said no" threads.

Anywhere around the Smithfield will satisfy your needs either way!

And make sure you look to these threads in the 'Topical Discussion' forum where they are stickied to post all you redundancy results!!

Interesting point made on BBC this morning that no one deployed on OP ELLAMY would be made redundant.

Good luck to all the chaps and chapesses today. I hope you all get what you want. As others have said: of you're out then take everything you're entitled to as you won't have another chance when you leave.

33 eng at brize

33 eng at brize

seems like good news for the herc fleet.....33 eng at brize 3 compulsaries and 8 volunteers
LUCKY BUGGERS!!!!
But an unhappy sengo

LMAO

I believe that was only for aircew though, I read a statement that Groundcrew and support staff were not exempt

As mentioned previously in this thread - exemption seems to be for those on Ops that attract Op Allowance (ie aircrew who fly into Libyan airspace / personnel afloat within Libyan territorial waters) - those in support roles are fair game, although I am not sure if the 6/12 month clocks start immediately or upon their return to the UK (pretty sure it is the latter but too lazy to re-read the DIN to confirm)
