Saurez banned

  • Following weeks of work, the E-GOAT team are delighted to present to you a new look to the forums with plenty of new features. Take a look around and see what you think!
This whole culture thing is complete bollox and just an excuse.

Really? Do you remember the thread where folks in here and the British press got all foaming mouthed because some woman got suspended from a health council for using the term 'jungle drums' at a meeting? "Its a term we commonly use" wailed the masses, the complainer should have been told to fcuk off, etc etc So wait then, persons of ethnic/foreign origin is supposed to accept our little nuances but we can't accept theirs then? Typical British arrogance, set up a little camp on the moral high ground and repel all boarders! No wonder so many countries think we're a bunch of w@nkers.

Suarez, LFC, all their fans and particularly John Barnes should just shut the fcuk up, take their punishment, and get on with it.

Fortunately, nobody connected with the club gives a flying fcuk what you think.

Now John Barnes is actually trying to turn it into a LFC / Man Utd thing, rather than what it really is. Do you scousers have no shame??

And now SAF says the ban is only fair........so it must be right ;-)

I can't condone this but it was probably an error made through ignorance. Which according to John Barnes is excusable:
Speaking on BBC Radio Merseyside, John Barnes said: "From a cultural point of view, [Suarez] has been backed by people from Uruguay saying the word he used is not deemed as a racist term."

He continued: "As much as we will say that ignorance is no excuse, ignorance is an excuse."

So, I suppose JT could use that excuse; "Sorry M'Lud, I was ignorant of the fact that Mr Ferdinand would take such offence to my comment, but according to John Barnes M'Lud, ignorance is a valid excuse".

The cultural thing that some wall pushing bin dippers are clinging onto might have held some water if he'd just arrived straight from Uruguay, however he's been in Eyrope for a good while. Whilst. I appreciate our Dutch friends are fairly laid back I would imagine he would have learnt that the use of Negrito was a bit frowned upon outside of the Spanish colonies.

Oh thats it then, because people imagine he should know better he's banged to rights isn't he?

The finger ban is fair enough, if not 100% consistent.

Is it reasonable to believe that JT, born and bred in England, could possibly be ignorant of the fact that making racially abusive comments to Anton Ferdinand on an English football ground would land him in hot water? He could try it but he'd most likely be laughed out of court.

Propersplitbrain all of your posts are so biased it's untrue. Re-read them. As an Argyle fan I have no interest who he plays for but your posts are so blinkered you lose any credibility. He has admitted using language not acceptable in this country. End of.

I'd probably be the same should my team or a player from Home Park be in a similar position but who knows. I agree the FA are inconsistent but the player and also Liverpool FC have in my opinion not exactly covered themselves in glory. As I have already said in this thread, I expect more from such a great club. His latest fine and ban will I'm sure not be his last but then talent often brings trouble as it has with most top players. I think it's time the club wiped their nose and got on with it.

I'm sure you won't agree but hey that's football. Time for Carroll to step up. Happy new year fella and best of luck for the rest of the season.

:PDT_Xtremez_30: Green Army!!! P.S. It could be worse, you could be propping up the rest of the football league!

Propersplitbrain, FFS fella are you still dripping on about Suarez's ban. I tell you what fella, LFC should just concentrate on improving their game cos right now, with Suarez in the team, you won't qualify for Europe, again!

Whilst I can appreciate unquestionable support for ones team, the whole cultural argument in this case is totally flawed. Unlike John Barnes, who epitomises all that is wrong with LFC, IGNORANCE IS NO EXCUSE!!!!

You and LFC would get more sympathy if you concentrated on the FA's handling of the matter, which I agree appears to be questionable, rather than say his behaviour is ok 'cos it's acceptable in his country.

Sorry mate, that is standard internet argument response Number 1 - ' you are so blinkered etc etc'. I've actually said I know he's a little sh1t and that, when the evidence is published, I could well be wrong in my belief he should be cut some slack. I invite you to reread my posts and go and find them, they are in there.

I'm sure you won't agree but hey that's football.

No I don't agree, buy heyho I never expect an internet disagreement to end with some saying 'hey, you know what you are 100% right'. :PDT_Xtremez_30:

Thanks for that, we'll see what the rest of this season holds starting tomorrow night, should be able to get a 1-1 home draw with Newcastle if we're lucky. :PDT_Xtremez_14:

It came up again and I repsonded. People attack what I'm saying and, if I think they're talking poo I respond. Its an internet forum, thats what happens. Don't read any further if you don't want to......:PDT_Xtremez_14:

Sympathy? Who the heck is looking for sympathy...sheesh. The club have seen more evidence pertaining to the ioncident than you and I certainly have thats for sure. :PDT_Xtremez_31:

Have I actually said that? Anywhere? Or are you just short-cutting the thinking process a bit :PDT_Xtremez_31:

I pointed out that John Barnes said ignorance is an excuse, and is that utterly inconceivable? That a man from a culture where the word Negro appears on a flag as a show of support and solidarity with a team mate, and where Negritto is a brand of chocolate milk might just have simply fcuked up royally? And that this fcuk up might just be taken into account as a mitigating factor?
We don't know, perhaps it already has been, perhaps the FA were going to ban him for, oh I dunno, 25 matches but decided that 8 was more appropriate because they believe he just screwed up rather than act maliciously - which, as I really did say before you know, is also quite possible. But nobody knows because of the inexcusable vacuum the FA have created by delaying the publication of their findings which means, as a result, people are casting their opinions without actually knowing what went on.
But hey, its my bad I suppose because this is the internet, and since when has actually knowing facts about something stopped people from casting their opinions into the electronic ether :PDT_Xtremez_15:

I invite you to look at this, its very apt I assure you (sit through the commercial before the actual video starts) ......http://www.gametrailers.com/user-movie/truthiness-the-colbert-report/33403

But anyway, enjoy your new year and who knows, maybe we'll all be toast in December 2012 when the Mayan calander runs out rendering the whole issue irrelevant :PDT_Xtremez_30:

When it comes to the FA, you do have my total understanding. They gave Evra a 4 match ban a few seasons ago after he complained following an incident with Chelsea ground staff whilst a few players were warming down. As for other players, well I won't even start on Cantona's 9 month ban and Rio's 8 month ban:PDT_Xtremez_28:

The 1 game ban he needs to just accept he was a dick and move on quickly, but the Evra incident could drag on for a long time if he goes to court over it. Must admit I thought he was going to be banned for longer but with the FA being their usual balls ups his appeal date isn't even going to start till Jan some time.

The FA report suggests that Suarez not only got the least he deserved, but also that any appeal would be fruitless and a disgrace. Shame on him and also LFC for the whole pantomime of support.

I think in the interest of fairness PSBM it has to be said has been tried and convicted of a bias that most of us would show if one of our players were convicted by the secret society that is the FA.

It is unfortunate for him that he is dipper though and we all know they go beyond any other city with perhaps the exception of the red half of Manchester and whine like a knackered wheel bearing. For a city which produced some great musicians and comedians they really are a bunch "why me" selfish fcuking whiners.

Inconsistencies in the versions of events given by Suarez. In other words he is a lying cnut as well as cannibal:PDT_Xtremez_42:

Now I have a bit of sympathy with Suarez here. I go to matches every week and the abuse dished out to the primadonnas on the pitch sometimes makes even my toes curl yet they are expected to just take it? I have always said that players should be able to reply in kind with the odd finger or ****** gesture. I can't remember who I was watching when a player from the opposition mooned at us after scoring and he got a round of applause for it

Hmmmmm, interesting:

The report states that, after being tackled by the Uruguayan, Evra asked Suarez why he had kicked him, to which the forward replied in Spanish: "Because you are black."

So he did that as a term of endearment? I hope all of LFC, their dipper fans, and that cnut John Barnes are truly ashamed of their unequivocal support of Suarez.

In hindsight, is an 8 game ban enough??

I like your friendly use of the term "dippers" I'm glad you choose not to use negative labels to identify certain parts of the community, oh wait......

The judgment is based solely on believing Evra's word over Suarez. There is no evidence whatsoever that can corroborate Evra's testimony, no video, no witnessess not even an expert lip reader. The balance of probability can be as low as 49.9% to 50.1% but because Evra seemed more impressive he was believed. I would ask you to consider that Evra gave his testimony with the aid of video Suarez didn't which could lead to the difference in how each persons evidence came across.

Regardless of the outcome this was always going to be a nightmare for the FA to resolve due to lack of corrobotive evidence and the two clubs involved and I'm not sure that once it started they would ever be able to get to the absolute truth, I don't think have here.

Oh dear! Liverpool dont come out of this well at all. Not only is the player a racist, he's a liar as well. Shame on Liverpool, a club that seems to support racism.

Not only is the player a racist, he's a liar as well.

So the Liverpool player Saurez is a racist because a fellow football player said he is. Yet as Insty points out there is no video, no witnesses etc etc. But it's an argument that can't be won in the polarised world of footy fans so Liverpool should now take the ban and get on with it. What size of ban awaits John Terry for whose offence there is video footage and of course the legal clincher now set that regardless of facts or evidence another fellow football player says he did it.
